Title: Pilot Ranks By Model and Model Year
Post by: mussie on June 02, 2006, 10:19:42 PM
I think it would be good to see rankings for each.

Top Pilots By Individual Models
Top Pilots By Model Years

Top 5 Pilots For 1941 Models
Rank     Highest KD          Highest Accuracy          Highest Points
1
2
3
4
5

Top 5 Pilots For Model P40B
Model     Highest KD          Highest Accuracy          Highest Points
1
2
3
4
5

That way pilots who fly the good old girls like the P40b, Hurri-1 and such could get some recognition for their efforts....

Its a good idea but that would get people a reason to increase their egos.

HT also I think is too bzy right now with CT to think about a rank system.

I like it:aok , i like it alot.  I think this needs to be done.  When u look at the history books and read about the top aces it lists the name and what he was flying.  ANd they list the top scoreing guy aswell as the top scorers for specific planes.  Maybe not by year, but definitely by models.

But one thing i wanted was a seperate stat for enemy fighters destoryed in the air and on the ground(vulched).  I can take the worst plane out there and vulch a 10 kill or more sortie a couple of times and be considered the "best" in that plane while u got a guy that goes air to air and bags a soild 2 kill sortie everytime and wont be noticed.  Im not bad in a corsiar(ii aint the best either) but when i see a c mondel land a 20 kill sortie i now the only way he did that was by goin vulchin.  My 2 or 3 kill sorite is nothin compared to a 20 kill sortie.  IM not saying to not give u points for vulchs and just saying there should be a way to tell "well ok this guy gets his in the sir, this guy makes his on the ground".  This way the "BEST" are represented instead of some guy that cant win a one on one but pads his score with vulching.

This game isnt supposed to be about scoring but theres a feeling of satisfaction when ur imporvments show on the score board.

Hmmmm.....?

Schatzi I hate to say this but I disagree.

Your name is synonymous with the Hurri-1, You have worked hard to make the most out of that bird and have earned the respect of myself and others for it.

But how many others are there out there who fly the Hurri-1?

How good are they....then again, perhaps that is the wrong question....Perhaps it is better to ask how much have they improved, I personally know that I will NEVER be in the top 100, but I would like to be able to look at my stats in the Hurri-1, what is my accuracy, my KD, ect....

I got an awesome kill on a P40 the other night, it was a thing of beauty, High deflection about 200 out and I poured 303 rounds across his wings like rain drops in a Hurricane.... (LOL)
Whoops I went off on a tangent for a second.... back to my point.

Having the ability to look at your own performance in individual planes gives you the ability to see where you are going wrong / right.

Also, right now you have a portion of the MA devoted to rank, and I think that these people mainly fly the "Uber" planes as it is the easiest way to achieve a high rank, by having a Top 5 by year, will give those who want to be "known" as the best a reason to fly the older birds... this will make the MA a different environment.

Perhaps its just wishful thinking here but I think this would bring new life to AH

Morph for example is disillusioned with the current state of play. Why? Well from what I see (and I am sure Morph will correct me if i am wrong)  its the feeling that AH has become consumed by easy mode pilots, pilots who want to be known as the best and to do so only requires that they become proficient in the "Uber" planes. When PPL like Morph and Levi started here it was about knowing how to dogfight and learning from your fellow pilots...

You cannot force people to fly older planes, you cannot make them play the game your way, but give the rank hungry pilots a reason to become good in the "Non-Uber" planes and they will want to learn how to use them....

Imagine it Schatzi... You climb over the crest of a hill and fly into a horde, but its not LA's , Spit 16's and P51's..... Its Hurri-1's , P40B's and P38G's...

Then again maybe I am just a noob whose looking through rose coloured glasses... Oh wait that's the bottom of my beer bottle... LOL

I really like this idea, it will take these hanger queens and give them some work.  I hope the htc guys read this.  I can get skuzzys attenition if i break one of the rules:lol  but this is a good idea that will catch on with time.  Yes ahes high has been consumed by easy mode pilots, its either a spit16 la7, or something with 4 cannons.  I really dont even see zeros like i used to.  With a differen scoreing system those guys with somethin to prove will fly other planes. Once in a blue(very very very very rarely) i see a guy land 2 kills in a p40,  put has name in shiny lites in the #1 rank for p40s and u will have guy jumpin in them to beat him.  It will make the game more competitve.

INstead of andin a update that kills my controls add this:lol

I would not mind some input from our resident furballers on this idea... IE the Blue Knights...

This is a GREAT IDEA!!!! I have no words to express how much I agree with this post! I fly P-40s all the time and Im still not famous yet, People like us who work so hard to do well in planes that not many people fly deserve to be recognized. Great post:aok

MiniD used to do something like this.  It was a lot of fun, but HTC put a lid on it because the monthly data mining scripts put a heavy load on the system.  I'd like to see something like it come back, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking that something like this can't be gamed in exactly the same way as players can already game fighter rank.

Given how difficult it can be to rack up any kills whatsoever in some of the true hangar queens of the current MA environment, this would most definitely be milked even more furiously than the current system is.

It would certainly be interesting to see who has the most kills in what, but if it were much like the current rank system, or a replacement for it, it would suffer the same fate. I would think a few more search/sort options for the scoring page would be a good start, but I'm not thinking HTC has much interest in redoing the scoring DB right now.

I expect that the idea will be gamed faster than a two dollar hooker on wealfare day...

But atleast it would add some variety for a while

I would like to see this scoring idea work, htc just has to figure out somethin to put those spawn campin perk farmers out of business. Im not bad and im doin alot better this tour, but when these guys milk the system my rank wont reflect my progress.  My kills are air to air, not "hurry la upin".

They need to do somethin with the scoring system.  Rank is meaningless now.  I flown with the higher ranking guys(they will remain nameless) and the guy will vulch like crazy and in air to air situations he would hover over the fight and wait till its like 5 on 2 and try to grab one of them.  ANybody can get 100 kills when u do nothin but vulch.
