Title: Loss of UDP
Post by: MINNOW on June 03, 2006, 11:57:43 PM
I used to be able to run multiple functions at the same time (i.e. AOL, AH, Windows Media) But now everytime I try, I get a message that says "UDP lost, switching to TCP" which causes me to lose Vox completely.

I have to shut down totally and reboot to get it back.

Any ideas??

Perhaps something is running in the background now that was not before?  Something eating up resources?

Only thing that has changed is Patch #1

It worked fine after the initial 2.08 install

Either .........

1)  Your ISP is hosed and its a coincidence on the timing.  Try running a route trace and see if you are losing packets anywhere, or have alot of lag on your route.

2)  Your install of AH is corrupted and you need to reinstall it.

Those would be my first 2 guesses.  Could be other things as well, but those jump out at me to check first.

AH is pretty CPU intensive, it likes to have total control of the processor.  I'm really surprised you can manage to run something like AOL without screwing up AH.  AOL puts its fingers into alot of places on your computer and it doesnt like sharing much either.  Just sayin.  I had AOL for a long time, and I know the nightmare of trying to clean up a OS after having AOL on it.
