Title: Lan play..
Post by: WhiteHawk on June 04, 2006, 10:30:05 AM
Trying to play doom3 and Call of Duty lan with my daughter, but cant get it to work.  I suspect the cd-key is preventing me from doing this.  Do i need to purchase a copy for each computer?

I think the game makers want you to buy one per PC.  I have 3 PCs networked, and most games will require more then one copy to work over a LAN.

I don't have these games, so I don't know if this is your problem.  If you are getting a message about CD keys, it may the the problem.  If you are just not seeing the other PCs on your LAN, it may be a firwall blocking the game from using the network.

If you have a cd burner, burn the cd and use them both, one in each pc.  I have a few LAN games that I have done that with and it works fine for me.
