Title: Mapping Bombsight to controller button ?
Post by: Eagle327 on June 05, 2006, 09:06:40 PM
Trying to map Bombsight to USB CH Pro Thottle button No. 6.

Not using CH's "Controller Manager" version 4.0
Gave up on that.  Far too complex & won't program any XYZ axis.
Am Mapping all inside the game "Map Controllers"  now.

Keyboard keystroke F6 brings up the Bombsight OK but I want to do it HOTAS way.

Tried assigning:
(Flight) Bombsight Mark Point
Also tried .....
(Flight) Bombsight Calibration Mode
Neither will bring up the bombsight.

Tried assigning other viarious functions to button No.6 and they all work fine.
So the button position itself is alive and well.

BTW, what the hell is "Mark Point" ??

On a side note, is it possible using AH2 in-game "Map Controllers" to assign a MACRO to a single button position as I did with the old version 1.23 CH Control Manager?  (Lost and not available anymore)

Had it set as "F6 o z "  Which instantly.......
1) Brought up bombsight,
2) opened bay doors
3) Made zoom in/out available

That's my overall goal following my Hard Drive failure and AH2 2.08 patch 1.

Thanks for any and all help,
Best regards to all

Their keyboard counterparts:

Bombsight mode/view (?) = F6
Mark Point = Y
Calibration Mode = U

And no, macros without third party software don't exist for AHII.

AH bombsight has 3 componants to it as your finding out.

F6 puts you in the bombsight.

Calibration mode (U) switches between calibration of the sight, and bombing.

Mark Point (Y) is used to make the point to calibrate.

So to do this HOTAS you'd need 3 buttons.

1st button (f6 jump to sight)
2nd button (U) Enter calibration mode
3rd button (Y ) Hold for 5 -20 seconds to calibrate.

Then hit 2nd button again to leave calibration mode. Now your ready to drop.

Thrustmaster sticks used to be able to program in rotating keypresses for buttons...  You'd just define a list of keys, and on the first button press it would send the first key, second press the second key, etc.  That way one button could do the whole calibration process with repeated presses.

I don't think CH or saitek programming would let you do that though, unless maybe a clever macro could be written.

It's possible with a CH but you have to write some "coad"

Thanks fellows.
I'm familiar with the proper keystrokes to bring up the bombsight and calibrate before a drop.

This must be a BUG.The main problem remains and I suspect it is a BUG in AH2 2.08 and patch-1.

That is:
The IN-GAME button mapping procedure works well EXCEPT for bringing up the bombsight.  I can map other functions to throttle button No. 6 BUT NOT THE BOMBSIGHT for some unknown reason.

The button position itself is alive and well. As proof, it works great on other tasks.

On a bomb run, I'm far too busy with target selection, line-up, speed sync, and calibration to fart around with more keystrokes: F6, plus U, plus Y, plus U, plus salvo selection, plus open doors.

I'll post this to the "Bug Reports" forum too.
I appreciate your concern and suggestions, Mates.
