WTF?! Who thinks this "thing" will sail someday?
And if it does, how much will it last till it capsizes?
-
Even if it doesn't capsize, I will order an airstrike to destroy this stupid thing. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Heh reminds me of that Monty Python sketch with the 2 guys looking at various architects' builing models.

If I was a sub commander I would send some fishes to blow up the damned thing (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
The page repeats several times that it is a "serious" project. Are they on drugs or they really think someone will believe it?...
Oh, almost forgot, if you want to go there to live, better for you not to suffer seasick (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I wanna land a cessna there.

This has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen... it looks barely seaworthy under any conditions, and what the hell do they do about seas that are even slightly rough. And soon to be built? If they can find a contractor willing to build the fediddlein' thing for them, I will be amazed.
Besides, how do you pay for living on the thing? There may not be any taxes, but I can be pretty sure that you would have to pay your rent by opening a vein or something.

Nah, the Russain had the floating hotel, and that worked.
But this is a bit bigger. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Looks a bit amateurish to me.

Hehehe. Signs that it ain't gonna be built:
A. The airfield. They want to move this thing to tropical vacation areas and block out the sun? Are they nuts? You can open up that deck space without much impact on your business by designing a much more modest method of airlink.
B. The cheap 3-D model. Check out their drawings; they're a hoot! They've got a subway train on one of the cutaway floors. DUde, the thing's not even a mile long. And check out the "machinery decks"
C. Their boasts of time invested: 4 full-time meployees and 15,000 man-hours over 8 years. Even if that weren't a lie, that's equivalent to one employee working full-time for one year. Hell, some AH pilots get that time in in one year.
D. Their method of selling commercial and residential space. HAve you checked it out? They claim to have two decks sold out already. Only one Commercial and one residential deck left, and take a look, spots are going fast! Harharhar. They've got deck layouts for the stuff they want to sell, but no ship blueprints yet. sheesh!
E. Their lack of a coherent business plan. Where are they going to park this ship? How are they gonna build it? They claim to have bought some abandoned dock space in the Honduras. Tee-hee. How are they gonna get the billions necessary to put this together? Surely not by ripping off a few oilbarons (which is what they're doing right now).
F. They're selling retail space, but they don't mention anywhere having made provisions to house the vast numbers of (atrociously underpaid) workers needed to run the shops, restaurants, casinos and potatohouses they promise.
Yeah, it's pretty funny. I'm gonna go see if I can scrounge up a few mark 13s just in case they build it.

This thing would cost close to a trillion.
Not ever are they gonna get the funding, unless a whole goverment sponsors them, and even then, its VERY unlikely.
Sound like a scam to me.
-
But look on the bright side.
First you consider the people that would get on that thing.
Then consider the fact they wouldn't be anywhere near you.
I think it's a great idea!

mietla, that's priceless!

I saw a news story on that "new utopia". Was pretty hilarious. Its not necessarily a scam... just an investment in something that will never get off the ground.
Hehehe.

BTW, they did a story on the "Freedom Ship" on a cruise ship TV documentery. They said it was canceled, because it would cost too much. But this sucker was a PLANNED ship.

There is an actual cruise ship under construction which will allow you to buy a room to live in permanently. It's not nearly the scale of the Freedom Ship, but it proves there is a market for this kind of thing.
