Title: Mouse drift
Post by: DREDIOCK on June 07, 2006, 04:48:36 PM
USB Microsoft optical mouse.

Sometimes the mouse pointer will drift on its own to the other side of the screen.

Usually after I've just moved it.

Cause and solution anyone?

How cheap is the mouse? I've got worse than that.... In windows my mouse goes ape**** and jerks around. It does this in FPS games as well. Multiple machines. Multiple cheap USB mouse devices. The common thread is "cheap".

Yes, I followed several tips found on the internet about this. None worked. Even MS's help database steps for removing old mouse driver entries from the registry didn't help.

Some think it's a driver problem in Windows mouse drivers. I don't know.

So, either you COULD have what I have....

OR

You moved it to a rough spot on the mouse pad and the optical sensor was seeing a bump or a hair and thought it was still moving.

I've got the former, you might have the latter. I thought I'd mention both just in case.

What stick are you using? I had mouse drift and it was caused by my X52. I fixed it by disabling the Magic Mouse through windows device manager.
