Interesting, this quote has me nibbling the bait..
Determined to find the law that requires American citizens to pay income tax, producer Aaron Russo ("The Rose," "Trading Places") set out on a journey to find the evidence. This film which is neither left, nor right-wing is a startling examination of government. It exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America since 1913 when the Federal Reserve system was fraudulently created. Through interviews with U.S. Congressmen, a former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents and tax attorneys and authors, Russo connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, and the national identity card which becomes law in May 2008. This ID card will use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips which are essentially homing devices used to track people. This film shows in great detail and undeniable facts that America is moving headlong into a fascist police state. Wake up!
I'd like to see it and make up my own mind though.
-
Henh. About damn time. I hope like hell America wakes up. This is a good start.
-
Whats this naional ID card thing about?
-
I don't see why having a national ID is such a bad idea. Our borders are porous. It's fairly easy to remain in the country after the expiration of a visa.
Am I missing something?
-
Oh... and I looked at the site... some of the primary objectives are a hoot.
-
Yah.
implants and locator chip ID cards?
The 4th ammendment?
If the govenment cannot be trusted to safeguard my data I'll be damned if I'll waive my privacy rights.
-
Hehe, and I will not participate in the dang census due to the questions they ask (now they are threatening me with jail time if I do not comply).
Yeah, this ID thing would go over really well with me. You want to take my picture and put it on a piece of plastic, I have no problem with that. But when you start inserting chips into those cards wihch can be used for tracking purposes (I aint no damn endangered species), I draw the line.
First off, that card would magically disappear.
Next issue would have a problem with a strong magnetic field.
Next one would suffer from a jolt of static electricity.
Next one would fall under my lawn mower.
Next one would get attached to the under carriage of JT's truck.
And so on.

Beware the mark of the Beast. :D

Yea, I just got my offical notification letter from the Dept of Veterans Affairs regarding the theft of my data.

I'm with Skuzz on this one. Basic ID - no problem. Could possibly help control the population of those who have no business being here leeching off our country.
Try to mandate an electronc tracking bug...not a chance in hell.
I have a funny feeling that millions of the things would suffer repeated, inexplicable failures of indeterminate origin.
Here's a random thought...do they intend to issue them to homeless people? And, how exactly do you think one would manage that? Round people up and herd them into national identific ation centers? Or shall they apply online?
Something ain't right here...

Hmm, it could also be used as a shim in my hydraulic press (200 tons).

No frikkin way am I carrying an rfid chip.
-
If you have done nothing wrong a tracking chip will not bother you
I'm sure Rip has one already
-
If the US government would stop stealing my hard earned income I'd let 'em track me to the toilet every morning.
-
If you have done nothing wrong a tracking chip will not bother you
This is a very, very dangerous point of view. Who, precisely, do we think has an inherent right to track our every movement, from cradle to grave. Who is the person so superior, so qualified to think for us, that they should have the power and ability to question every second of our natural existence?
Do you ever want to have to be accountable for every moment of every day of your entire life?
To my mind, this kind of oversimplification , and the precedent it sets, is truly a frightening prospect.
I will not, repeat, will not be universally tracked for any reason by anyone. I will answer for my whereabouts, my intentions and my actions when there is reasonable, legal and legitimate reason to do so.
(Please nobody tell me that we're tracked already through electronic records, purchases, cell phones, toll booths, etc...simply not the same thing as a unified, systematic, government controlled system.)
Not personal, six, just a response.

I think that was the point. Many around here voice the same opinion regarding the Patriot Act, NSA wiretaps, etc.

Thanks, but this isn't relevant to national ID cards.

Good subjects, no doubt, all willing to hand to a government run by thieves and corrupt politicans the future of America to protect their cushy tax loopholes and stock margins today.
-
I don't want the US governement watching me or stealing my money. If they just gotta do one, let it be watch. There's a huge difference though between watching and telling me where I can and can't go. How long will we let our government steal from us? Both our money and our privacy.

Yep, and we are powerless to do anything about it. Why? There is no way in hell we would be able to get a coordinated plan of attack together among the people of this nation. A sad truth, but a truth.

That coupled with the fact that most Americans would refuse to believe the problem was severe enough to warrant a coordinated attack until it was far to late to do anything.

I dont consider myself apathetic Skuzzy. More of a realist I think. I dont remember the exact saying, something about situations when you can make a difference and when you cant and having the wisdom to know the difference. American politics and foreign policy fall into the latter.

Im sick of all the laws we are subjected to...ever darn time you turn around there is a new law....Im afraid to spit on the side walk any more...might get a ticket!!
Our goverment plays so many games....look what they did with smoking...they have bought alot of tabacco rights from farmers....they tax the hell out of tabacco cause our goverment does'nt want us to smoke!!!
Did you all notice how gas prices fell below 2 dollars at x-mas time...another goverment game...boost consumer confidence so people spend more at the stores!! then jack the price back up as soon a Christmas is over....don't tell me the goverment has nothing to do with gas prices!!
-
All you guys are big mouths. :)
You are already tracked, everytime you use your credit card, ATM card, gas card. I see non of you only using hard cash?
If they do the tracable ID card, and check points, you will bow because you will need it to go on with your life.
To realistically start a civil war against own's gouvernement, own's must have nothing to loose. Americans are too well indulged with their big screen TV, air conditioning, fancy cars, modern homes to give it all up in name of freedom.
I have no doubt that they want to and would get enraged by it, but how often have you eard "that's not right", and yet barely failed to follow up on a complaint, not even talking about loosing your house/car over it.
This answer is not a personal attack on any of this board member, nor against Americans, but rather a less glorious, more humanly realistic approach.

It is illegal to spit on the sidewalks in Texas. Just FYI. :D
Frenchy, I write letters all the time. Then I get to a period where I get disgusted with the whole mess and stop for a while, then I pick it back up and start again. Never been one to just mouth off about a problem, perceived or real.

Skuz, that's exactly what I'm talking about.
You write letters, which is already most than others, but when is the last time you said : "I'm not paying my taxes, all IRS will get is a letter". You are not ready to have your house, furnitures, cars repossed.
I was talking with my GF just now about this subject. She was ready to march to the Whitehouse. All I had to say was: great, but while you march, you are not getting paid, how we going to pay the house & car payments? I you ready to live in a trailer for your convictions? She said :"No, I can't do that to the little girl, but it's ok, because my boss will still pay me". ... Yeah sure.:lol
Last week I was talking with a 35 year old woman in a store about Iraq. Geez, she said, give me a gun and I'll go fight the war right now. Wishfull thinking, but how feasible is it? I'm sure she menat it, but she probably didn't realised what living in a APC without AC means, not even talking about a 250lb woman runing in the middle of a streetfight with human gutts flying all around her:p
Anyway, a freacking allah akbar 30 year old uneducated fanatic can strap a bomb and go blow the white house, most of us, who worked the last 20 years to have a house/car/TV/life would not blow themselve up for 72 virgins.
-
Taxes are an irritation, not worth the effort.
And you are right Frenchy. I would not walk out of my job and lose everything for a cause. Why? Because no one else will. One person cannot do a thing in this country. 10 cannot, 100 cannot, 1000 cannot.
However, if they try to tag me, I will fight. I do not need to quit my job for that.

Agree that the Dems and Repubs have a strangle hold on our politics. How do we break that strangle hold though? I personally dont think you could ever get enough 3rd or 4th party Representatives and Senators to make a difference......thats assuming we could get a 3rd/4th party candidate elected in the first place.
I am finding it hard to believe that our Electoral College would vote for a president that isnt either a Democrat or Republican either.

"When they came for the Poles, I said nothing, for I was not a Pole.
When they came for the Gypsies, I said nothing, for I was not a Gypsy.
When they came for the Jews, I said nothing, for I was not a Jew.
When they came for me, no one said anything, for there was no one left."
History repeats itself.
Here's another item for American citizens to not be at all concerned about:
There quite a few state governors upset at the Bush Administration's effort to usurp Control of the National Guard away from those States and place them under Federal control for missions such as riot control and disaster relief. These have always been state missions, under the Governor of that particular State, to be done by the "State Militias".
This was slipped into a 2007 Defense Authorization Act without any debate and passed late last year.
Democrat and Republican Governors all oppose the change and state that the provision was not discussed ahead of time. The Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman, Sen John Warner, R-Va stated "The provision was fully available in the public domains for review and debate for over five on this prior to its final passage in the House and Senate, and approval by the President." Probably had something to do with a locked cabinet in a sub-basement of an outlying government building somewhere in Washington D.C. All very Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
So, as to Command and Control, the State Militias are not really State Militias any more.
Disneyland on the Potomac: sometimes it does begin to resemble 1930's Germany.
The the proles will allow it to all happen.... to busy watching American Idol and such.

i don't understand, the federal govt has always had the ability to federalize the guard, as i understood the state could activate the guard and the state would pay all expenses, or the state and the federal govt activate the guard and split expenses, or the federal govt activates the guard and pays all expenses.

Generally, the Federal Government could Federalize the Guard for overseas deployments (war and disaster response) and in domestic use for National Security (usually in consultation with the State Governors first.... happened a bit during the 60's for war protests and civil rights). For public riots, prison riots, natural disaster response, and more "local" response scenarios, it has usually been kept within the control of the State and Governor.
The change that was added, not debated, and passed in the 2007 Defense Authorization Act bypasses the Governor's authority over the State militia. There was no debate on this, and the various governors were not consulted. Much of the various State Guard budgets still come from State coffers. The Act pretty much takes the Governors out of the loop for many things. This would also take power away from the State appointed military and civilian leaders of those state militias.
This unilateral change on the part of the Federal Government is just another State power, right, and resource being taken away from it. Where does this begin and end? Why was there no debate? Why were the Governors not involved? Just one more power grab out of D.C.
In of itself, it's not earth shattering, but it is one more data point in a growing trend --- hence my first quotation.

Going ... going ... gone.
Unfortunately this gestapofication trend is not unique to the US. Many European countries are also heading down that road.

I too, oppose a US national ID card.
Several here have voiced their intent to refuse such a card.
My question is: If the national ID is integrated into our state drivers licenses how possible will it be to refuse to carry such a card?
Could you get by without a drivers license?
Wrag, good post.

Worse... it is a vote for the women PMS democrats and their socialist party and gun control and bigger government and higher taxes with cradle to grave socialism... poverty and missery for everyone except democrat party leaders.
