I knew there was a reason I voted for him <G> Let's see....1.4 billion divided by a couple of million... I might get an extra $10 a year! woohoo (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Every Republican president gives them a raise, every Democrat president does not give a raise and cuts the budget..same ol' same ol' in the last 22 years I've voted.
-
yea so now they make crap plus 1% lol love how you twist things .
-
Awww, rip, they got a 4.6% raise a year covered by the law, so not exactly true (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif).
Better than me. I get less and less, and bigger and bigger loans (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Billion divided by a million is a thousand, not ten.

Actually, raises for the military have been extremely low since Mr. Reagan took office. I do remember getting 3.6% one year.. but that was more than double most years. Things weren't much better with Clinton. If they did give out a 4.6% raise, its only because the minimum poverty level numbers were raised and its cheaper to give out that 4.6% than food stamps. And the "by law" statement is a little misleading. Each year the president decides what the raise will be... no laws are involved in the decision, only the implimentation of the decision.

Such are the woes of the poor persecuted college student. Nobody truly apreciates just how rough life is on them... at least not anybody that has already been to college (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
I have a brother-in-law that I just put through college. He now has a PhD in European History. He went to college for 10 years to become a professor. He will now be teaching America's youth. You really remind me of him Santa.

I didn't actually do the math, just being sarcastic. My point being, no matter what percent raise we get, our pay will still lag behind that of a comparable job in the civilian sector. What I think is truly sad is the number of younger married soldiers who have to resort to food stamps and welfare programs to make ends meet.

StSanta: they got a 4.6% raise a year covered by the law...
A law put in by a republican house and senate...thank you very much. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
And during Reagans reign, we had a house and senate majority of Dems...

Dowding, Santa! Say it ain't so! School Loans???? Wasn't it you two filling my ear about the FREE, FREE, FREE! education in your countries? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Raub, you are absolutely correct. It's not enough. The food stamp/welfare situation is abominable and a disgrace.
towd...I'm confused again, like in your explanation of the tax cut. It's a 4.6% raise for everyone from private to general...but the newspaper says that the generals will get a bigger raise than the privates? Now how can that be??? Is it fair that some get more money than others? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Hey, Toad - a liberal with socialist tendencies cannot live on political discussion alone... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
My loans went on paying for living costs (since I was a full time student).
Which included a lot of beer, rent, and not a great deal of food. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Heck, Dowding..I just worked in a gas station while I went to school. Had an AFROTC scholarship to cover the tuition. got out with no loans and only had to spend 6 years in the AF to complete my end of the bargain.
Gas station wasn't bad. The ROTC was interesting...that was in the "anti-war" phase of the late 60's/early 70's. We sorta stood out on the ultra liberal campus I was at.
Did have one hippie girl try to convert me to the dark side using ALL of her powers of persuasion. Jeez, THAT was a good 18 months!
Ah, how time slips away.
Well, good luck paying them off.
Maybe they should just raise your guys' gas taxes some more?
<sorry, couldn't resist! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) )
