Was putzing around with this idea. Still not finished yet, but basic premise was having HQs moved closer in - to make them more of a "target" encouraging attacks, and encouraging defense. Another oddball thing - was making it a 6-sided war.. due to terrain features, some countries might not have a close base from one side to the center - but to make up for it they might have task groups / ports near to the center.
In the center of the map, I was thinking having the city strat AND a few capture points / map room / towns for some of the Medium Bases (Blue Aircraft on map) in close proximity. It would be simulating a little more "urban" area. This make citys more important as they are close to front lines and tied directly to strat. As well as giving cover to gvs to battle it out.
Strat cities would be able to be spawned into by GV and PT boats. For GV defense, I was thinking, if possible make grass feilds (YELLOW aircaft on Map) which only have JU87s / Il2s / Hurricane 2Ds - maybe early planes, but i dont think that's allowed (like 109E / spit1 / a6m2 / p40s)
As you move back from the center of the map - you'll find more strat / ammo / troops, radar, ect...as well as more medium bases and then the larger bases.
Havent placed any of that stuff (rear air / gv bases large feilds) on the map yet...lol.

But once the HQ is overrun, there would be no way to resupply it and your country would have no radar until end of war.
Maybe one one of the rear VH bases, you could place a spawn point going all the way to the HQ.

Haven't placed the rear bases yet :) They'll be able to resuplly the HQ - will have lots of spawns into HQ from vbases / more feilds when placed., which in turn will make the resuplly base good targets for attack . and essential for defense.

yeah - I'm kinda going for a way to keep the game play fast..lol - lots of action. In the sense of now some strat is more vunerable - it will pay to get up and fly cap over strat targets. If once country does happen to get their HQ over run and lose the center part of a "slice" - I'm planning on making a "second" front of bases that are tougher to capture and a little easier to defend / attack from. Those of course would be the Vbases / Airfeilds behind HQ - those would be the ones resupplying.

The ports might need to be airfields as well as ports. They are kind of waaaay out there.

oh - yeah - they're will be feilds out near the ports - just not on that picture yet. Having the feild / port combo might be a good remedy.

There is at least one map that uses that combo for some of the ports.

nce idea i like your thoughts and bring the strat targets in to play will bebetter for the bombers and moe kills for thefighters flying cap.
never know might even get the guys on the same side working togeather

Did a rough layout of zones -
Each zone (z1, z2, z3...ect) would contain al the strat stuff - citiy / troop taining / aaa factory / radar fact, ect....
Thinking that way I can get the center of the map looking more urban / costal towns, ect... (represented by red dots on map)
still need to lay out waterways and rivers - big rivers that cvs can go through :)

Bish zones would be: 1, 4, 7, 10, etc.
knight zones would be: 2, 5, 8, 11, etc.
Rook zones would be: 3, 6, 9, 12, etc.
