Title: Need a piece of Noseart
Post by: Lord ReDhAwK on June 11, 2006, 12:17:33 PM
Salute All,

I have had a request by a squadmate to make a B24 of his Dads (he actually bailed out of her in the war.)  Aircraft name was Updraft.

SN 44-40620
13AAF/5BG/72BS

2 pics attached of noseart I have.  However, I need something in color if able and more of a straight on view of it, rather than the skewed versions I have.

Squaddie said his Dad saw the period pics and the version I am working on and said a huge smile came over his face :)  I really need to complete this project for him.

All help and input appreciated.

I did find this. It helps with the general image, but not with colors.

I appreciate it Krusty.  I have several of the B&W photos of her at different angles.  This may come down to me making her by hand.  At the current time I am thinking the dress is blue, hair blond, dark stockings, black shadow under her, ect.  Squaddies old man cant remember her codes on the side.  Supposed to have a duffle bag buried somewhere that may have a profile of her.  The research of this particular aircraft is being a little harder than most as he said he flew several different aircraft in his 35 missions (he was part of a pool.)  That ,combined with the years ago that it happened, has a lot less recall from the source than I am used to :(

I remain completely optimistic :aok

Thanks for the input sir.

I've done a bit of noseart from scratch, too. It can come out looking better than if you used a different source (because it's geared towards pixels and bitmap format).

I look forward to seeing the end result.

I now have a new resource for noseart.  I did an e-bay search on the artist and after 9 pages found a pic of the original :)

Artist was Elvgren

Pic attached.  Thanks for all the input gents.  I appreciate it.
