Army Meets Recruiting Goal Again
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Army said Friday it surpassed its recruiting goal for May, marking the 12th consecutive month of meeting or exceeding its target.
Before it began the streak in June 2005, the active Army had missed its target four consecutive months. And even though results improved during the summer months, it missed its full-year target for the first time since 1999. The Army National Guard and Army Reserve also fell short of their 2005 goals but are doing better now.
The regular Army signed up 5,806 new recruits last month, compared with its target of 5,400, and the Army National Guard and Army Reserve also exceeded their May goals, according to statistics released by the Pentagon.
Nonetheless, eight months into its budget year, the active Army is barely beyond the halfway mark of recruiting its goal of 80,000 new soldiers. Through May it had signed up 42,859, meaning that in the final four months of the period it will have to enlist an average of nearly 9,300 per month to reach the 80,000 target.
Last year, the only month the active Army came close to signing up 9,300 in a single month was August, when it got 9,452.
The Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps also met their May recruiting goals, the Pentagon said.

Well.... the MSM were defining it as NOT meeting recruiting goals...had no end of stories about it (also re-enlistment goals, which I'd imagine are even more important). Now the armed services ARE meeting said goals...and nothing but silence. (Unless you count Haditha, which is looking less and less like what Murtha et-al portrayed it to be)

"Now the armed services ARE meeting said goals..."
"Said" goals met, using unspoken and entirely new standards.
Like....
There was a time when you had to at least be a highschool grad, for heaven sakes.
Now? Not so much.
I mean.... You can be caught red-handed screwin' 'buddy' the house Pekingese, with a crack-laced joint hangin' out of your 9th grade edumacated mouth, and a rap sheet danglin' from your bellybutton as long as a roll of toilet paper, and...... nowadays?
Yer good to go.
Of course, you always hear this: "I don't want a draft, because it will lessen the quality of our armed forces."
My question is: "How about the steep lessening of recruiting standards to the point where, just by the law of fricken averages, you're going to get more quality men by drafting everyone, rather than the current cherry picking of the absolute lowest rungs?

Nash, you have a source for your "information"?

And you're a "captain" where? Your fantasies?
Talk about ego.
Look under your home for a flat tire, something's causing a lean to the right.

The BBS name comes from a character in a movie.
My home doesn't have tires, nor did it ever.
Try again, genius.

It's already there, just hidden. It has a -500K ENY, and it costs 2.5 million perk points. Skuzzy flies it. His K/D ratio in it is infinity/0. You don't see it on the list because you don't have the required 5 million perks (you need double the perks just to see it), and because it has a cloaking device. Most people can hear it coming though. It makes a strange "inininininininin" sound.
