In WWII there was a chopper it was called the Sikorsky R-4B "Hoverfly" . Its first flight was on May 1944 by Col. Philip G. Cochran. It would be great for resuplying bases at a close ranges so you wouldnt hav to fire up a big C-47 you could just jump in a Hoverfly and take off with a load of supply,.
Of course the load would be smaller than in a 47 but it shure would be fun.
:aok :noid
and it says that it could have bomb racks on it too:aok :D
-
You are kidding, right?
-
good idea, but it will never happen. GOSH I wish it would though, but its not. I say bring the coppers to AH :)
-
No im not kidding It would be great to have them hey if not for anything but just target practice. It would be great for resuply on bases thats not to far away.:aok
oh yea i have a death wish and Im so used to getting shot down anyways.:rofl
-
Hey...We got a jeep didnt we...who knows
-
If we get choppers, then we need a korean map complete with the MASH 4077 unit complete with hotlips naked in the showers
-
HECK YES!
-
Oh yeah complete your missing in CT and you earn points to sleep with a nurse. The more points you have, the better chance of getting a high class nurse in the supply closet
-
But wouldn't the higher ranking nurses be old women? I perfer the nurse behind the desk at the pyshcal exam office :O

P.S. If this is to graphic for kids plz tell me and I will remove picture from the post. TO LATE AT SUMMER SCHOOL!
-
Well it depends. Some that are high class are young but stuck up brats. Even if one is in her 30's, as long as she is hot and has a good body its worth it. Besides, by then they have experience and know how to work it
I think this thread will soon turn bad after this message

I just thought since we had jeeps since they dont support any real purpose that we could have choppers. And in the Il-5,7 there is no casetts or how ever you spell it they were like cluster munitions would be nice for taking out tanks and or hangers.:aok :O :noid
-
We need a Space Shuttle.
-
Yall think Im being stupid or something but im not the jeep has a little 50 or 60 cal on it wow what good is that going to do when a 47 BOLT hits ya you might as well throw BB's at a pissed off Grizzly Bear so what would it hurt to have a choper in the game?:O
-
Please show us a WWII combat helicopter. Then ya might get some credibility.

here is the sight.
-
The R-4 was first used in combat in May 1944. In a letter to a friend, Col. Philip G. Cochran, Commanding Officer (CO) of the 1st Air Commando Group, wrote "Today the 'egg-beater' went into action and the damn thing acted like it had good sense.":aok :O
-
I did see my edit? So you want a 75 mph no gun target? See the little part about no guns?
With the burn multiplier of the ma it will make the 163 fight time seem like an eternity.
It was a short range recon and medevac craft nothing more.

RECON and it had bomb racks

Not listed on spec I see . Link please

oh wait... i didnt.
-
Sorry that was the basic one here is the one with the racks it dose say how much the racks could carry 650lbs and we could also use it for recon as well I know that it would be a death trap but it still would be cool:aok :O

Let me know what you think?

Gotta reply to this one.
Helicopters were used operationally by the US during World War II as search and rescue aircraft over the "Hump". The first rescue by a USAAF helicopter happened April 25-26, 1944 in Burma.
The Museum of Aviation, near Robins Air Force Base in Macon Georgia, has a display with pictures of the helicopters in Burma. This same display gives information about their flights and usage. The main problem found with "choppers" was that the air was too thin for the machines to really operate. The technology was just too "new".
A "long distance" rescue can be read about here. (http://www.chicagocentennialofflight.org/aircraft_sikorskyr4.htm)

The RAF and Royal Navy both used the Hoverfly during the second world war too, dont where they served or what they did though.
-
Japs had a combat chopper prototype but war didn't last long enough for it to be put into Combat
-
This kind of "chopper" for base defence:
