If something sounds or looks too good to be true it probably is.

Did you get that from ZDnets review?
-
That looks like bumpmaping nightmare, I would like to see how my Tbird 800 and v5 5500 would handle a scene like that.
-
My screensaver at work is a 109 over the most impressive water Ive seen mapped in a game. It has the same icon tag on the screenshot, "Blue Byte." Is that the company? What game?
Oh, and your prosessor might habdle it the wobbled, but that V5500 aint going to cut it for long.
When I was building my new machine, I benchmarked with all new components leaving in the V5500. They I replaced it with a ASUS 7700 Deluxe GeForce. It doubled my benchmark.
I also tried CFS2 1280, and the V5500 couldnt handle it. After the video card swap it was smooth as glass 1280 all sliders maxed out. AH also doubled its FPS to 75. Near CV's full fire fight on is smooth as silk. My old V5500 would plummet the fps.
The next release of sims is going to require upgrades for alot of folks.

Creamo,
That image, and your desktop at work, are screenshots from Maddox Games' Il2 Sturmovik. Blue Byte is the US publisher, however Blue Byte, a German company, was just purchased by UbiSoft, a French company. Blue Byte was going to sell it through the internet only. I don't see why UbiSoft would change that.

Here's a review by ZDnet:

V5 rules, end of story (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Im sure my friend thinks the same thing, as after I saw the V5's dismal performance next to the GeForce, I gave it to him.

This sim has been in developement since before I ever heard of B17-2 or Aces High and if IL2 works online like it is supposed to, Bye,Bye HTC.
Of course, when AH went from free beta to 1.0, I was going to sign on for 3 months MAX due to the imminent release of "THE WWII SIM"
B17-2 and that one turned into a total joke.
AH is safe for awhile but hopefully there will soon be an online alternative.
There will be fewer people in the arena but the old saying, more than a handfull is a waste, applies if we can actually do something that simulates WWII air combat with historically matched planes instead of this airplane game with WWII planes in it.
We have had our "elaborate hoax" = B17-2 so I hope IL2 is not another.
Get yer 1.5 Gig machine soon though.

When did they put this thing in here and WTF is it for?
-
I bought both a V5 and GeForce2 to see which was better, on my monitor (which doesent go higher then 1280x1024, the v5 5500 was FAR better than the ge-farce when using FSAA, without it the geforce is faster, but with it the V5 is the winner, and I wanted to use FSAA, i took the ge-shitter back.
-
Wobbles,
You seem to have a biased opinion.
Get ready, the V5 is a nice board, but its memory bandwidth is VERY limited (64 wich is 32 per chip, and its SDRAM)
It wont have enough bandwidth for handling the video memory intensive tasks of the next generation games.
However if you only play AH, and its working fine for you, then you dont have a problem.
But dont bet on playng CFS2 or Il2 with all details and textures on MAX.

<sigh> sometimes I think technology goes TOO fast.

You must remember the Hardware maximum, if it is on the shelf for sale, it is already obsolete.

That first pick looks less like a scene from a game and more like a scene from some benchmarking test the more I look at it.
