Title: 18! Man where did the time go?
Post by: DREDIOCK on June 13, 2006, 03:27:22 PM
Today. My son turned 18

Christ where did the time go??

There are still things I wanted to do with him yet.
Places to take him. Things to see.

I smacked him just on principle.
I told him when he was 12 to stop right there. Dont grow anymore and dont get any older. He was perfect at 12.

Little bastad didnt listen to me. So I smacked him for not listening to me.

He laughed.

Funny. You can be home every night, Be there every day, for every event.
See every ballgame, Be at every school activity. And the next thing you know. 18 years has gone by and you still feel like you friggen missed it!

He asked me how it felt to have an 18 year old son.

I just told him that all that means is I can throw him out whenever I want.
And no matter how old he gets I'll still kick his arse sideways if he screws up

what I really want is a do over

and he can now need bail money possibly :O

funny thing, i still remember turning 18, and realising that day, all the stupid childish stuff me and budies sometimes did was now "a north side Milwaukee man was arrested..."

i think that kept me out of more trouble than anything.

BTW WTG on raising what seems to be a fine young man. :aok

Dred, man...

Every single word rings true...my boy turns 17 in a few months, and I am not prepared for this shiatsu.

What happened?  We're too young and pretty for this stuff, right?

And all those things we meant to do...guess we'll still have to do 'em, but with an almost-man now, instead of our boy.

Ooof.

Proud as I am of the manling my son is becoming, I'm really missing the round-eyed little boy more and more.

Blessings and Best Wishes for your son...I hope adulthood brings him great things.

On the upside...a few more years, and you can start drinkin' with him!  And you can make him pay for the beer!  I knew there was an upside somewhere...:D

Do-overs are mere socio/biology experiments...  Not too tough to start but they can be expensive.

My daughters 3, she'll be 4 next month. Maybe its a mommie thing, but I can already tell shes growing up, just te thought of her turning 18, and moving out into her own apt or house kinda tugs at my heart now. By the time shes 18 I'll be old grey, ugly and a complete nervous wreck.

One of my employees is about to turn 18. Bright kid, hard working. She just graduated high school and is looking at college. Last night she flunked a pregnancy test.

I'd say the opposite is true. She didn't fail a pregnancy test. She failed the sex without pregnancy test. She doesn't seem to have paid much attention to the birth control part of her education. She'll get her report card in about 8 or 9 months. I hope "dad" is ready to accept his responsibility in flunking the program.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When my daughter turned 18 I congragulated all three of us on surviving... but we wern't outta the woods yet. When she turned 21, we repeated the celebration and she announced her engagement.

When she got married, I cried. A year later.. and we still ain't outta the woods yet. ;)

Wow, congrats. My son just turned 3 and it seems like only yesterday when we brought him home from the hospital. I am in no hurry for him to grow up.

Why not to the both of them that caused the situation? She didn't do that by herself.

Only if he's willing to make a decision, and not say get an abortion so he doesn't have to take the responsibility of a child.
