I have a saitek x45 with the dual controls and two twist knobs on the throttle. Well it looks like there mapped correctly but just refuse to do anything. Once upon a time I swore they worked but I took a break. Now the just sit there and look useful. Any comments?

I have no idea and while it may bug you it's not a game bug.
Should be posted or moved to Technical Support forum.

Same here BTW.... got the rotarys to work for RPMs.
But when i map them to Trim, its a nogo.... havent done any trouble shooting or further experiments yet, so i might have overlooked the easy solution.

I have the X45 with Rotary 1 and Rotary 2 set to trim pitch and roll. No problems with it.
Be sure to calibrate the axis when you set the rotaries AND to return them to the detent center position when calibrating. You want that center position for trim so you can adjust up/down, left/right.
Schatzi that might be why RPM works, but trim doesn't work for you. You most likely calibrated and sent the rotaries to the "Low" position rather than center.

IIRC (uh oh, i know ;)) I calibrated the rotarys to center position. But i didnt calibrate axis seperatly and i think i calibrated stick BEFORE mapping...... Ill try that later. Thx.
-
Yep what NHawk said. I have elevator and aileron trim working on the rotary knobs as well. Make sure you calibrate each axis seperatley. Then calibrate whole stick again when done.
The trim system works beautifully btw.
Let me know if you have problems still. I will walk you through the set up process and see if we can get you working.
cheers,

Is it overidden by combat trim?

what HiTech said.... though i may be out of touch for not playing recently....
in older AH and probably now, when you hit the "K" or any of the other manual trim keyboard keys it would automatically turn off auto-combat-trim.
this does not happen when you adjust a trim rotary. you must first manually turn off suto-combat-trim then the rotaries will have an effect.
-
Set your rotaries as bands in the SST software. That's one suggestion

I have Auto Combat trim Disabled, but use Combat trim generally.
Does this mean that trimming manually no longer overrides (ie switches off automatically) Combat Trim?

While I don't use combat trim I just tested it and yes manual inputs do get overridden with combat trim.

Combat trim works as before, With KEY triming it is easy to flip it off when it changes.
With analog trim to flip it off when you move the knob becomes problimatic.
So if you wish to use trim knobs my suggesting would be to disable auto combat trim, turn in on when you wish to. Alos note trims will always jump when comming out of auto pilot.
