I think HT's made himself clear on this. Just because you're a customer, doesn't mean you have some inalienable right to ***** in front of an audience.
I know when I have issues with a vendor, I don't call everyone I know so we can have a giant whine conference; I go directly to the source, and the only person who can resolve the issue.

companies don't provide BBS services because they like their 'whiner' customers. they do it because if they didn't someone else would. if someone else did then they would not have control over threads. if they did not have control they would not be able to delete posts and lock threads. so, only reason this bbs is provided is to lock threads and delete posts

Sorry Tufnuts, I disagree with most of your original post.
HTC's customer service is excellent and has been acknowledged as such time and time again by others. Any game related issue (problem) I've not been able to work through on my own, has been addressed and 99% of the time, resolved by a call to HTC. Each and every time I call, I get through to a human being who provides me a knowledgable response.
As to your gripe about the HTC boards...there are posted parameters of what will and won't be tolerated. I've yet to see Hitech, Skuzzy or Pyro come down on someone unfairly, or close a thread that was in compliance with those parameters. While you seem to have appointed yourself judge & jury for what you deem to be inconsistancies insofar as those who slide vs those who get the "whup stick", consider the fact that HTC personnel can be counted on less than 10 fingers. Although Hitech weighs in from time to time, Skuzzy has the splendid job of monitoring this UBB, along with answering several hundred questions a day from folks who don't bother to read the Help files or Read Me's.
Frankly, I'm beginning to lose patience with the small minority of disgruntled AH players, who seem to think that every gripe they have also reflects the thousands of players who simply enjoy the game for what it is. If you choose to spend your money elsewhere, so be it. Life will go on without you and your complaints.

I'll second Max's sentiment, and add a rant of my own.
Although it may seem that some people "get away with stuff", I believe closer examination will reveal the differences between them and those that get smacked. It is not just what the whines are about, but how they are expressed. As long as the disagreements are respectful, there is no problem. When you begin hurling personal assaults, question HTCs integrity, things of this nature, you get smacked quick.
IMHO, HTC has been more than tolerant with many on the boards. If he seems strict now, it is only because he was lenient before. Just because someone "got away with it" a year ago, doesn't make it right. Etc. etc. Bottom line, follow golden rule, and you will have no problems.

i believe what he may be getting at is... one unnamed played gets roasted for vulchinging an account.. the next month a player basically gets a pat on the back because he "apologogizes" when he's scrutinized and the player that points out the "strange" curcumstances is chastized for bringing it up in the first place *shrugs*

Think the difference here is, one that got roasted admitted he did it for rank, in public, and was essentially trying to make AH and HTC look foolish in the process. In the second case, there is at least a chance the person who apologized was used by someone else, who also shall remain unnamed. If the person who apologized had instead said "yeah, what of it you tards!" he, too, would have been smacked as there would have been no doubt as to his intentions.

I think you both have made valid points. I was a little harsh in my attack against HTC customer service, considering the fact that I have never had to deal with them on the technical side of the game. I should have been more clear as my rant should have been directed towards PR. I imagine that this game and community have grown faster than HTC probably expected it to. I'm sure that it is difficult to deal with everybodys pissing and moaning, but I still believe that some of the "veterans" are allowed more freedom than some of the lesser knowns. In the very recent past I feel like some very similar situations where handled completely differently.
Either way I still feel like people should be able to share there problems on the boards even if it has to do with HTC. We are adults and should be able to tell the difference between a legit complaint and somebody who just wants to be an arse.

Being a corporate call center 5hit eater is a little different from running a company. HT runs a company... You (and I) are simply employed by companies.
I think HT is smart not to let his public board get cluttered up with the rantings of every whine-tard that comes down the pike... You see, its bad for business. If you have a legitimate gripe pick up the phone and call.
I (and many others) have called HTC more than once, talked to Skuzzy on the phone and EVERY SINGLE TIME had some of the BEST customer service I've ever received from any company.
A public cry session is not the solution to anything.

The big thing is how you word your criticism.
Being courteous even if you are dissatised with something gets you a lot futher than "Bunch of crap", "POS" etc.
HTC customer service is great, I can't count the amount of times I've phoned them with a problem and got it sorted out there and then, or it has been fixed in the next patch.
And yes I have criticised some of the changes and patches that have occured recently.

I agree with all that said it is how you word it. Hopefullly the tone of my second post was a little better. My intial post got a little heated due to the fact that this started out as a reply to another thread, and by the time I was done writing it, that thread was locked. So I started my own thread.
I stand by my opinion that there are a lot of hypocritical things that happen here, but I do understand that I could have presented my argument in a less aggressive manner.

Listen...HTC puts up with a lot of crap...Most of it coming from me....Think about it....This message board is a representitive of this game...Many of our players spend a lot more time reading these boards during work, than time spent logged into an arena...Call it what you want, but what CEO would want open threads smearing his creation...I have learned through these message boards that HTC is in no way, shape or form a democrocy....(It is a facist dictatorship) jkjk......All in all I think they are doing a damn good job.......:aok
That said, it doesnt mean i'm not PO'd YOU (and you know who you are), wont ever reply to my postings about the A-20 being available without ords!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont even know why I keep beating this to the ground, because im lucky if I even fly the A-20 once or twice a month, but its my personal rant and the quest will continue!

There is a right way and wrong way to address anyone in this community. Here at HTC, we make every effort to be available to our customers. You can call, you can email, you can even reach us in the game.
We have never hidden from a customer. We do our best to address every customers concerns and questions.
It serves no purpose to be disrespectful to anyone on this board. None. There is no point to it, other than to attempt to anger others. That is not acceptable and we are intolerant of it.
A conscious decision to violate the forum rules (posted at the top of every forum) is an afront to everyone who attends the boards.
