Ok This is straight up whine so serve cheese please!
Me and some squadies go to TA to play around. Lots of Newbs on I mean alot of NEWBS. poor Batfink trys to help a couple and is bombarded by typers. ( board was scrolling pretty fast) . No trainers on.
So I put out a broadcast and type for all the newbs. " anyone wants to learn to fly come to A5 and I will teach you to fly P51." I post how to move, give a channel #, and all the stuff. several say yeah sounds good. So I'm sitting on the runway at A5. Nobody was At A5 thats why I chose it. The first two planes to up are a 262 and a 163. So i think well they just "happened" to come here to dogfight away from the crowd. WRONG
they both turn back on the runway to Vulch me and my squadie in p51's who are there to help new players.
Point is there was a call out for players to stop in the TA and help out due to the huge influx of summer newbs. WELL I TRIED.
There is nothing I can say about these to people that skuzzy won't have to delete so I will just leave it at that.
-
Well they can't kill you in TA !:huh
-
killshooter is not turned on in the TA?
Also email HTC with the info, posting it here just works everybody up in a lather and accomplishes nothing
-
Last I recall the lethality was set to zero in the TA....
-
Well, if they're complete and total newbies, probably the best you can hope for is what Batfink apparently was doing... Fielding a million questions... Maybe not the most rewarding job, but surely helpful to the training corps all the same.
It's just from your post I get the impression that these were people completely new to flight sims seeing how many questions they were asking... Trying to teach them the P51 at that stage may be pushing it... At least it will probably prove a pretty taxing endeavor for you...
-
Let me be clear about this.
I know they can't kill you in the TA.
I don't even care if some is shooting at me or not cause you get no damage.
Its just the point of it. It's like kids hiding on the side of the road throwing rocks.
You all know what I am talking about, I am talking about intentional Griefers.
I posted this to point out that I tried to help and got griefed for it. now if u want to be constructuive point out to me how to work around or with these kind of people. Because I feel it is hopeless.
I Don't feel like it would be legitimate for me to ask for these newbs to be banned therefore I am not going to PM HITECH about it. If we are spose to PM hitech about every issue we have, WHY HAVE A FORUMS?
-
I grabbed the P51 because its a good all around plane and most newbs recognize it. If you check my record you'll see I fly all kinds of stuff.
In my opinion if some of us would go to the TA and start newbs out in different planes we would have a better chance of seeing these planes in the MA.
By the way i am flying the 109 F4 this week. Widewing is right this plane handle great.
-
i tried helping folks in the TA before and i remember some AH vets doing the same thing to the noobs i was with.. i know that it cant kill you or damage your plane, its just a major distractor..
-
my point exactly 101. Someone knows you are trying to help so they try to disrupt you. Its very childish

1. You cant help people like this
2. that is why you email HTC, let them deal with it. If they are noobs they will attempt to correct the behavior or else deal with them as they see fit.
-
Airscrew I agree In a way and I disagree.
If it was clearly vets that were attempting to disrupt on purpose then Yeah its a PM getem nailed to the wall thing.
But this isn't vets its noobs no doubt about it. I stand by what i say "on that point" if we r spose to PM Headaches like this why have a forums.
I will go you one better if I am spose to PM this, then rule # 1 should read.
(If you are unhappy about ANYTHING you can only PM it. The forum boards are for HAPPY thoughts only. AND HAVE A NICE DAY!)
-
take a screen shot, and if you don't wanna send it to HT, send it to trainers@hitechcreations.com.
I'm sure at the least the Trainers would want to be aware of who is doing this. Just like if you fly in a Special Event SnapShot and something goes bad that I didn't catch, I would want to know.
PM or email me.

Forums are here so you and I and others can discuss issues, the game, problems, get help, ask questions. we can rant and argue all we want but that does not solve the problem of a couple of dweebs causing problems in one of the arenas. HTC (Hitech, Pryo, Skuzzy, etc...) do not spend their entire day sitting on these forums. If someone is causing problems then it needs to be emailed to HTC for them to deal with, doesnt matter if they are vets or newbs. This makes sure they see it in a timely manner so it can be dealt with.
I would say though your first action would be politely to ask them to stop the antisocial behaviour, its possible that a newbie is not aware their actions are incorrect. but after that report them if they continue to disrupt the arena. Also what WMlute said

Airscrew and WMLute
On the last two points You are Wise as always. Thank you for your input.
Discussing this here I have gained insight and and feel my attempts at being a helpful Player were not in total failure as I have brought to light the woes faced by those who try to help. I feel somewhat vindicated and I am prepared to take to the skys once again.
PS the only way to get things recorded is to record all the time and I am not going to do that. U never think to hit record right when something is happening.
OK I through whining... WHERE'S MY CHEESE?

If a person wants to learn to do something in the TA they will usually ask for help.
The ones that are totally lost eventually learn to communicate (either by themselves or a 'reminder' message) then ask for help.
The ones that are there just to fight usually just up and start shooting.
The ones that are there to teach usually have to wait for someone to ask for help.
When you do try to help, you can get a feel for the other persons attitude (personality?). Some people just want to ask a million questions about every facet of the game and some have the patience to actually listen and comprehend what you are trying to teach.
If you are teaching while flying, pick a field that is as far from A1 as possible.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you can try to help but only those that want the help are going to be able to be helped.
-
Most people at that stage don't even know if they are going to stick with the game. They just want to get up and kill stuff. Some love the game and get with squads and learn more about it, some continue, never improving until they tire of it and grab the next game that comes along.
Is there a beginner, intermediate, expert training course?
-
When i was a newb, i had NO IDEA, about any of this stuff and the general ettiquette, it's hard to understand, so keep in mind alot of them are good guy's and not doing this stuff on purpose, they just don't know that's all.
-
In between chores at the house, I checked the BBS and found this thread. So, I loaded the game and went to the TA. Two guys were flying around shooting at everything. I explained the rules to them. One got snotty and I sent a .warn message followed by a blue text notice that he would be ejected if he didn't behave. He then behaved.... After a little while, I logged and went back to my yard work.
I suppose the big trouble makers had moved on or logged.
My regards,
Widewing

It's not uncommon for a person to call out "OK who wants to fight." Only to find them in a 262. Usually some kid. Same with the bushwacks and the bombing of A1.
But there are other players generally of two types. The more mature players that really do want to learn, and guys that have been playing for a while that want to sharpen their skills, work with a different plane ect. Who hope to find like minded others.
I know that had I been in there I would have taken you up on the offer as I don't fly the 51 much except for air to mud stuff and usually miss then anyway.
-
I'm sad to agree with crosseye.
It was infact schatzi fielding a million questions, plus working out mouse config for some chaps.
I was doing what i always do, which maybe a little sellfish.....
.....answer questions if i see them, but look for a more advanced pilot looking to transition from basic moves to complicated acms and then work one on one in private.
you did a fine job Crosseye, just dont let the griefers stop you helping the genuinely eager learners.
-
Widewing, i have been in the Ta a few hours ago. Nothing out of the ordinary, just the usual bag of fleas... :)
Crosseye, theres different kinds of "griefers". Those that just dont know. A quick info on where to read the rules (Arena Message) and you get an apology. Then there are the frustrated ones... that cant figure out how to play and lash out in response... either by talking BS/foul or by vulching. Those can be thwarted by getting them going in the right direction. And then there are the ones that just make trouble because they can.... those are best asked (nicely) to stop, and if they dont, take a screenie/film and send to HTC or just REPORT CHAT and maybe add a message to Skuzzy (via radio) as to WHY you reported. Hell check the logs and handle it.
I know it can be VERY frustrating when all you do is try to help and about half of the guys there just either ignore your help or downright oppose it. Nevertheless, i think the one guy you get going is worth all that. I hope the few idiots you meet every now and then wont stop you from doing what you did. Its those veterans like you that are willing to share experience with a clueless dolt that helped me become what i am today... and i thank and >S< all of you.
PS: If im overstepping any bounds with that "procedure" of handling griefers in the TA..... please tell me so and ill ignore any rule infringements in TA.

Upping a 262 and 163 to vulch vets offering to help? LOL .. I think they knew what they were doing. Dweeb extreme.
-
well, i've been helping out in the TA quite often for a year and a bit now, and you do get lots of these guys at times, usually bratty little kids with no clue, best thing is to ignore them totally.
infact, i secretly impersonate an officer of the trainer corps at times to keep them in line:p making bold empty threats at the kiddies usually gets them to die down or leave lol.
anyway, beyond the brats, helping out in the TA is some of the best fun in AH. i've made most of my friends in there and you have plenty of decent fights while also being able to help people out and share your knowledge.
everyone should try the TA out a lot more, nothing more rewarding in this game than teaching.:aok
those who can, teach, and it's worth it!
it would be really great to see a few more of the sticks from the MA stop by the TA and help out in there, an expansion of the trainer corps would be really great, especially for the upcoming release of CT

I was on when this was happening. Batfink had taken me to a super secret :lol location for some training. I happened to hit record when we started.
I didn't really notice all the chatter while we were flying, because I was trying to pay attention, but when I reviewed the tape last night, I saw it coming through, and it was indeed pretty childish (at least some of it).
Schatzi and Batfink are my new heroes, though. :) They really did their best to help the people that really wanted/needed help (with due respect to CrossEye--he was engaged with a few others when I popped in).
PS--pretty cool that the recorder grabs text AND voice--that was a pleasant surprise for a newb! :P
