Title: Automotive trivia
Post by: Jimdandy on February 13, 2001, 01:27:00 PM
Which car was the first MASS PRODUCED car to come with an aluminum V8 and a turbo charger. Not a limited production or one off or exotic but a family sedan. I realize that turbo cars have been around a long time but this was the first one meeting the criteria above.

215 cid aluminum V8 with a 50% water/ 50% methyl alchohal turbo injection system.

Anyone find one older than this?

I think DejaVu got it.  MW 50 Olds.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

My dad had a Corvair with a turbo, but that was a flat six.

I could kiss you DejaVa.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) Yeah! Yep that be the one. There were older cars that were turbo charged but not mass production family sedans.
