Soon this map will be available for us and Id like you to come up with ideas for a RPS for it. http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=174808
Im not a CM so I cant say it will be used but I do want to see your good historical knowledge come to use for the AvA.

Rolling planeset is pointless historically.
Attacks on Norway from the RAF consisted of -
1940
- Skuas sinking the Konigsberg.
- Swordfish sinking a U-Boat
1941/2/3
- Either Norweigan resistance or Commando Raids
1944
- Attacks by Lancasters, Halifaxes and Mosquitos.
Hardly a good subject for a RPS, from either sides perspective.
Denmark would be just as barren (fighter wise) apart from perhaps very late war.
Then the spectre of the LF IXe / XVI rears it head.
From a Mossies driver point of view it's a dream, most raids were mixed B IV's and FB VI's.
Only suggestion I could make would be a non-historical division of fields with the RPS with planes introduced WHEN available.
Can't see the bases in the UK being much use -
Closest point to point UK to Norway is 200miles+
Closest point to point UK to Denmark is 125miles.
Thats coastline to coastline.
Most wont fly those distances.

My congratulations on the Map Team. Fantastic map!
Wasn't there a British attempt to invade Norway? Why not populate the map with very few airbases - some by the coast to allow LVT landings - and very few vehicle bases well separated to avoid fast replanes and short respawning?
Allied 1st objective: get one small airbase with gv's enabled.
Allied 2nd objective: capture the other bases, basically with gv's supported by close support fighters and bombers flown from far away bases.
Axis objective: oppose landings, avoid 1st base capture and keep Allied away.
It would not be necessary much effort to replicate the real disaster...
I say, the planes in this area would not be all, good naval/air/army coordination would win the day. And keep DAR shutdown to force LW to CAP and search for the fleet.
I would do my weekly 5/6 hours with a smile...

I recall recently reading about 1 or 2 squadrons of Hurricanes operating in Norway ( i think) for a short period. when they evacuated they landed on a carrier, (cant remember the name right now, Ark Royal?) but then the carrier was sank on the return trip to England

found it...from the book "Terror from the Sky", Edward Jablonski, 1971, Chapter 3, "Sitzkrieg",
The Allies sent small, ill-equiped reinforcements to engage in couragous but doomed ventures. Landings were made at Namsos, in central Norway, under command of Maj Gen Carton de Wiart. The British forces soon came under heavy Luftwaffe attack and within days after the landings Namsos was bombed into an unforgettable spectacle of flame. General de Wiart informed London that he "could see little chance of carrying out decisive or indeed any operations unless enemy air activity is considerable restricted".
The Aircraft carries Glorious and Ark Royal were called in from the Mediterranean to assist in the delivery of aircraft, particularly fighters whose range would not permit their being flown directly from Britain.
The Allies were forced to construct their own airdromes under less than ideal conditions. The British field was located on Lake Lesjaskog near Aandalsnes in central Norway. No. 263 Squadron dispatched 18 Gloster Gladiators. [they lasted 3 days, landed April 24 and by April 27 the Luftwaffe had bombed and destroyed 10 planes]
A new airfields were constructed near Narvik and Bardufoss. No. 263 returned with new Gladiators and No 46 squadron with Hawker Hurricanes. Operations were started around May 26th and by June 3rd the British had to evacuate. The Hurricanes were landed on the Glorious.
the Glorious and two escort destroyers Acasta and the Ardent were sunk on June 8th by the german battle crusiers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.
So Hurricanes were in Norway, if even only for a few weeks.

Correct me if I am wrong but didnt the british operate F6Fs in the north sea?
What Id like to see on this map is naval combat.
Allies
CV Based
Seafire
F6F
UK Based
Mossies
Lancs
Spit9
Axis
CV Based
PT Boats
Norway & Danemark based
109F4
109G2
110
190A5
190A8
Id like to see the action over the north sea near Norway and Danemark
This would give the AvA a bit different gameplay as it would be attack the naval group based game play. No base taking but still battles around something on the ground/sea yet with a furball option.

the brits fielded the corsairI, hellcatI and the martlett from CVs in the north sea. the FAA pioneered the operational carrier use of the corsair, they wrote the book on it.
