Men? You meanGuidance systems.

Anyhow, they don't need to be perked, we just need the Betty to get them airborn. Anyone who straps on the devil's dildo probably shouldn't have to pay perks for the "privilege".

Demeaning? Accurately-described, is more like it. Anyone who straps a rocket-powered bomb to himself is the definition of foolish.

I think the U.S. servicemen that died from the baka pilot's sacrifice would like to have a word with you.

dedication to the defence of one's homeland at all costs is foolish?

and i would love to chat with them. i am sure at least a few of them would agree with me.

It was the same men that gave it the name "baka" or "fool".

I think the only one's that would agree with you would be the pilots of the baka.

Ditto on what Diablo said.

And as for defending one's homeland to the very end, I believe Patton was pretty sharp in pointing out that the key to victory isn't dieing for your country, but making your enemy die for his.

But I do see your point. And while we give a moment of silence to all those Okha(baka) pilots, I'd like to raise a toast to the gallant freedom fighters that made their heroic stand against tyranny in the name of God in late summer of 2001...

To answer your inevitable question, yes, I do believe that they are cut from the same cloth, and if they'd had the chance, they would have hurtled themselves right into Main Street with the same resolve that they hurtled themselves into American warships.

No. We have a supply of idiots equal to or greater than the Japanese, because we don't actually die. Guided suicide weapons and cartoon war don't mix.

Hub here is an idea perk em like a 262 and a 2 hour no fly. Go gv it up or gun a buff.  Auguring into your target cost you something also.

Now before the whine of "I pay my $$" .Its a game and games have rules.
Don't want a penalty for killing yourself don't fly it.

They could be coaded to air launch at 20K over PT boat spawn points........

I was thinking they could actually give us the Betty bomber, with the Baka loadout option. Pilot would be responsible for getting the Betty to within launch range, then, upon launch, the Baka, now controlled by the pilot, would rocket away from the Betty. Once it was far enough away, the Betty would explode, just like a runaway drone, leaving the Baka under the pilot's control.

While spawning them at 20k at PT spawnpoints is definitely simpler, I'm afraid itmay be just a bit too easy. It also seriously restricts the useability of the Baka to certain areas. CVs that stray into these areas, on the other hand, are bound to be inundated by wave after wave of bakas.

With my option, the pilot would actually have to demonstrate some skill/luck, by getting the mother plane to within launch range. After that, whatever happens, happens.

I'd still perk them............ then the wave after wave  fear would be negated

use baka = lose perks

I would also link them to ord and buff strat (a rocket that must carry a war head)

I'm with you on the perks. Make it cost 20-25 points, and definitely link them to the strats.

The idea of implementing the baka as a member of a 2 plane formation, however, seems logical also. You would, in effect, bail out of the mother plane, into the baka, leaving the mother plane behind to explode. Also, if an enemy does happen to catch you, he could score two kills by blasting both out of the sky before the baka has a chance to drop.

Only thing is, I believe the warhead on those things was 2000lbs. That means it would take 4 hits on the CV to sink it. Seems excessive. They'd have to remodel the damage a little, given the speed at impact.

I'm starting to really want them now. Chances are, this thread is as close as we'll get to having them.

1200kg warhead (plus whatever propellant is left, plus whatever sake induced flatulence is available in the cockpit) at 970 km/h
