anyone have one? i been reading about it and wondered if anyone had any insite? looks cool and seems to be an awsome vehicle. i know my tacoma is bulletproof.
-
It's a 4Runner platform, so same as your Tacoma. They just shortened the body, gave it a Element-like interior, and then gutted all the extra features like door insulation to keep the price down. You'll probably find it lighter, "tinnier", and cheaper feeling than your Taco. For the price though it's a really good ride.

Do a search for the thread Sandman posted about his Xterra, he posted a review that pitted the FJ agaist the H3 hummer, Jeep Grand cheroke, and the new Xterra.
The FJ came in second to last next to the H3.
The Xterra won.
Plus you don't have to be a very manly lesbian to want to drive the X, unlike the new FJ.
:D

That's a bit of a ridiculous comparison Gto =P All 3 of those vehicles are a class up from the FJ. The fact the H3 sucks so bad... well, I think everybody expected that one. Unless Xterra's aren't as expensive as I think? iirc, the FJ was due out at under 20k. Demand & dealers probably inflated it a bunch, but that's how it goes until there's more availability.
I'd compare it head to head with the Honda Element. They're about the same size/shape/niche/price. The Element works perfect for a friend of mine that's a pro fisherman. Lots of milage hauling around kayaks and gear. Works really well for him, so I don't think an FJ would be much different. They're too light to even get stuck easily. Mud is a few thousand times more common than a hill to climb in east Texas, so it may be a better choice out here depending on where your playground is at.
The most popular Toyota platform for lesbians seems to be the Scion xA. No clue why. They had to pay me to drive that thing.
Now if I had some trails worth a crap that weren't hundreds of miles away, I'd be in line with the rest of the Xterra fanbois :lol

The comparison was not about price, but about comparing the mid size SUVs that claim some offroad prowess.
They tested them on and off the road. I think the H3 won off road, but was crappy on road. I think the FJ was rated the same. The GC and X got props for being good on and off road. (this is all from memory)
I would compare it to the honda element as well except honda makes no real claim thats the element a real off road vehicle.
The 4x4 version of the FJ start at 22900, curb weight 4200 pounds? (thats 1k more then a tocoma)
The X starts a 22650 for the base X, 4X4, 4150pounds
H3 starts at 29k 4700 pounds.
Jeep GC base 4x4 30k 3700 pounds
The comparison isnt great price wise but the rest of the specs match up well.
Oh, and I think the FJ is smurfy, it looks like a really big rav4. I can only see large manly lesbians wanting to drive a big ugly rav4.

It actually makes a damn fine one. I was really suprised.

WTF?! They hit us at dealerships with the fliers and stuff claiming blah blah blah blah. I quit working for Toyota, then vehicle rolls out, and it's not what's promised. Figures. :furious It was supposed to be a throwback to the original FJ40s that were pretty stripped down.
Seen the newest Rav4s? They look like a Rav4 humped a Matrix and that's the bastard offspring. The FJ, to me at least, looks like the bastard child of an xB & Element. I've always kinda liked the japanese boxes, but anybody over 25 usually disagrees :)
Thanks goat... now my curiosity has got the better of me and I'm trying to find lesbian car buying demographics.

Be carefull out there, contrary to how porns portray them, most lesboes are not blonde and hot!

3 Tickets to the Houston Comets: $45
Beer: $20
More beer: $20
Almost enough beer: $20
...
The look on your ultra-conservative Dad's face when he realises you've plunked him down in an arena surrounded by 5,000+ 300lb bull-dykes... priceless.
:rofl

We had a guy nicked named FJ in high school. He said it stood for F****** Jacka**. I'll always think of him when I see an FJ cruiser. :)

Car and Driver review (http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/10776/comparison-test-review-2006-hummer-h3-vs-2006-jeep-grand-cherokee-laredo-4wd-vs-2006-nissan-xterra-off-road-4wd-vs-2007-toyota-fj-cruiser-4wd.html). I should add that I've driven the Mengal Pass trail in my 2000 X.
As another opinion, check out the comparison of Xterra and FJ by Edmunds.com (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=115472). Edmunds rates the 2007 FJ above the 2006 X.

I talked to a guy in walmart that has one and he said all it needs to climb a wall is different tires.
-
The club FJ is a horrible boat. The only reason you should ever own one is if it is given to you and you do not have enough explosives on hand.
Oh, you were talking about the FJ car...

If you like the pics, you should check eBay for a copy of Life Magazine, April 9, 1945. There are plenty of outstanding pics from that day in Germany. I'd scan and post them, but I'm not sure that's allowed.

FWIW, I like the look of the FJ.
What I don't like is the back seat.
I've really been jonesing for a beater 4x4. I've been watching for used Jeeps and Land Cruisers here in town.
