A Rolling PlaneSet utilizing all planes AH has to offer but split between their respective Allied/Axis sides??
How about using perk points to indicate rarity even though a plane is available due to its service. With the perk point raising or lowering as the RPS moves along and the planes historical rarity changes with the timeframe?
What other features of an RPS would entice you to enter an arena where it was setup?
The reason I ask, is a carry over from a discussion in the AvA forum in regards to the low numbers present in the arena. One possible option being discussed is utilizing a full planeset RPS. So I am here just seeing what interest there would be in it and to see if it is an idea with any merit.
I must state I am only a player and have no power to implement any arena changes within the AvA. I was just curious and hope the information determined will be useful to the AvA staff and possibly lead to an arena that has a little more historical feel than the MA but a little less "rigidness"(for lack of a better term) and more variety than the current AvA setups.
Thanks in advance for any mature input offered.

The MA itself is basically a "free for all". Fly what you want, when you want, and how you want. AvA is a little more limited. But what you are asking for is probably going to be answered in ToD or CT whatever they're calling it now.
To me AvA wouldn't be as bad if the maps weren't so big. They're built to compensate for hundreds of people, and you're lucky to get 25. Make the maps a little smaller, and you may have a better turn out. Just a suggestion.

No. We have an Axis Allied arena. However Im all for rolling plane sets that match up well.
-
If you're curious as to how I'd like this in the AvA... I'd probably fly in it more often then I do now (kinda liked that old AW3 AvA setup like this). If you're curious as to how I'd like this in the MA... No thank you :)
-
What's the best argument for a rolling planeset?
As it is now, anyone can fly any plane in the MA. So who is being "screwed" by the current setup?
A rolling planeset would "screw" people, because it would limit personal choices.

A mature and emphatic NO.

I dont think its possible to change the MA...It is a free for all...As much as some of us would like more, it is what it is...We do have the AvA arena which is awesome, but like someone said earlier, your lucky to get 25 people in there...I have never seen more than 10 people in at once....
For anyone interested in historical matchups and rolling planesets, I think one of you should step up and become the coordinator for the AvA...Schedule days and times for big fights...i'd definately be up for that

Rolling plane set? No thanks!
Way to restrictive and far to EZ for things to become UNBALANCED.
If I wanted a rolling plane set I'd fly in the AvA. Which is something I rarely do.

Just to be clear I meant the MA left as is. The RPS would be implemented in the AvA as a change to how it is currently run. The basis of the whole discussion, from the AvA forum, was in regards to the low numbers in the AvA. Implementing a RPS was just an idea to increase the numbers of player who populate the AvA, versus the current methods which just don't seem to have the draw. Of course the RPS would limit the rides, it is the intention. The purpose being to keep the planes fighting each other along historical lines and also allowing the early warplanes to have their "moment in the sun".
-
Bug, I have always believed that a full planeset RPS would work in there as a "relief valve". Our limited planesets trying to make some kind of combination of mini-scenario and furball are fun, but everyone needs a break from heavy rules and seriousness sometimes. Throwing this setup in every so often is a nice way to break the monotony IMO. Certainly worth a shot.
-
I would love to see RPS in the MA, but as that's never going to happen, a good RPS setup (well advertised so there were decent furballs) would get me into the AvA arena. I'd prefer it not be divided on Axis vs Allied lines and more of an anything goes plane selection (like the MA with RPS), but since it's the AvA arena I don't know if it's appropriate to have Spits fighting Jugs in there.

RPS in the MA????
WE vote no. Thats right, me and my two friends :D does that count for three votes?:huh
I would recommend that if you want RPS, open an arena and advertise what he RPS's are going to be for a certain period of time and scale down the map. Kind of like the SE, but lift the squad requirments, so anyone could jump in and out of the arena. Rules could be a little challenging to come up with, but there are lots of bright people that i am sure can figure it out to keep balance in the arena. (like maybe you don't have a choice as to which country you can join, or maybe you have a sign-up/registration board where you list the plane type that you desire and are notified when those are available in that arena):noid
don't know what will work, but it seems doable to me.:aok
may be forced to fly against some of your friends.:O :O
could be a good thing.

Thanks for the replies so far. The arena will be an open arena, just like the MA but with only a limited planeset.
For a VERY, VERY rough draft of how the RPS would play out check out this thread in the AVA forum. Initial though is to rotate the map once a week, just to keep some variety.

Low numbers in the Ava? Easy... its the AvA aspect of it. If you had a RPS with maybe three or four "eras" based on plane performance (not year of introduction) then you would have something.
I know you guys could come up with a fair 3 or 4 eras... you have gotten pretty creative even with the loser idea of "AvA and fair".
I know some will say that they are WWII buffs and the AvA gives them a historical feel.
I am a WWII buff and the AvA seems to me a mockery of history. I get no historical feel from it in the least.
I think that leaving it AvA is simply catering to a very select few players at the expense of numbers.
