this game is great fun.
played a few rounds with some of you last night.
few quick questions;
the RADIO default key is T right ? is that so only players on my team in my vicinity can hear me or is it all players in my vicinity?
Dogfighting, how can I turn and maneuver quicker? I am guessing I need to back the throttles back... should I use flaps? or any other helpful hits for gaining a advantage on my enemy? or how to better get him off my 6 ?
Bombing, MAN! is there any way to get more altitude faster? LOL
those heavys... I just put in a safe heading and hit ALT X and leave it alone for 30 min... LOL
GREAT GAME! hope to see you all more often.

well... you've allready figured out the "heavies" or, as they are called here, the fluffs.
Lot's of guys and gals here do all the housework so they do as you say... just set it for autoclimb and go throw a load in the washer or do some dishes...maybe even scrub a floor or two.. Get dinner ready... And... the best part is that you don't even have to run up the little womans credit card buying joysticks and controlers... it can all be done just as well with nothing but a mouse..
It can get pretty excieting tho when the water is starting to boil on the old stove and you are only a few minutes away from an undefended field or cv!

Welcome to AH :).
Radio voice transmission can be done on two channels.
Either Range which goes to people in your vincinity (more or less icon range). Hold F12 while talking.
The second channel is Tunable, the fifth box in your radio box. You can transmit to anyone on the same channel with you. Channel numbers 100 through 199 are usually used by squads. Channels 200 through 299 can also be tuned and can be used for cross country transmission (ie people tuned to it can be on different countries and still hear each other). You can also type in a GameID to use that channel for private transmission - check your mic by putting your own name in :). Hold T while talking.
Dogfighting: Yes, working throttle is part of it. But by no means all. I suggest you check out Net Aces (http://www.netaces.org), SimHQ (http://www.simhq.com/_air/acc_library.html) and Sodas Aircraft Page (http://members.shaw.ca/soda_p/models.htm) for info on AH planes. Lots of info can also be found in the Help and Training Section on this board.
For practical training come by the Training Arena. Usually someone there that can answer your questions and help you with BFM/ACM.
The Trainer Corps can be contacted at Trainers@flyaceshigh.com for scheduled training sessions.
Bombers: Yes they are sloooooooow climbers, just as they historically were. Take 25-50% fuel, thats usually plenty. Other then that, hit ALT X and go afk for half an hour is a good thing to do :).

It's great to see you here, and i for one wanna give you a great big ole AH welcome
======== WELCOME ===========
:D :D :D :D :D :D

I see you've meet the condescending fly my way or you're not cool club. Don't let em get you down.
Welcome to your new addiction.
-
as far as the heavies go they are also called buffs...
unless you are a BB bully in which case they are refered to as
"fluffs"
:lol
-
The most important thing is to learn to fly your own game. If you want to fly an \"E\" fighter or BnZ ride, fly to be successful and just ignore the Spixteen whiners who complain about you not trying to turn fight them in your Typhoon. ;)

Welcome aboard.

You will turn tighter if you are slower. One of the main things in this game is gauging your speed and that of the enemy. Sometimes it comes down to who can DEcellerate fastest, but able to balance the fine line between getting the speed down, but not too far too quickly.

wow thanx for all the tips and the warm welcomes
:aok
this is becoming my new addiction... i find i have to get up and make myself goto bed at 2am thinking to myself,
"Self, you gota get up at 7am go to F---ing bed" :rofl oh and i am a stay at home dad rasing my 22 month old daughter...
this game is ALOT of fun and i am really looking forwad to emplmenting all what you have told me. i think i will set myself up for a training session tho... cant hurt... and will get to know some more players.
-
Definately set yourself up for a training session... But you will get much more out of it if you do a bit of studying before it (that way the trainer can get on to more complex things then what button does what, etc.)
Schatzi mentioned some great links, check them out :aok
2am is nothing, btw... Just wait lol :D
-
Look out for the waskaly wabbits. They are not very nice :O
-
The drones in offline mode won\'t help you TOO much with ACM, but DO provide a decent beginning gunnery platform. Even if you\'ve played other sims before you WILL need to adjust to the gunnery model in this game (took me a couple weeks before I could even hit a target! Of course, most of the time I STILL can\'t, but the fluke hits are becoming more common now ;) ).

Well Welcome....
Heres my advice for you.....
Your daughter 22 months? Get her some golf clubs. Get you some Clubs and go play golf. OTHERWISE
Your butt will become this big (_______(________)
Your Gut will become a Mansion over the tool shed.
You'll catch yourself saying to the wife when she askes you to help her....you'll say Roger Honey.....
SHe'll ask if you can do something and you'll say....Negative.
You'll find your picking apart ANY flight show you see and saying..."That's bull. Those planes couldn't do that.....AH planes can though."
You'll start playing and forget the time and turn to see your daughter getting ready for prom.
Just a few things........
WELCOME MAN...Enjoy your time here. Its a great game. Have fun. Do what ya like. Try different things. ANd by all means , don't take ANYTHING said to you on the 200 channel seriously.

thanx for all the info and... :rofl stuff...
QUESTION... how are the points/kills scored?
"XXX player has landed in XXX with X kills"
where are the tallys of these scores/kills?
do they contribute toward the planes that COST to fly?
any info on this subject will be appreciated... BS or serious... :aok

See the menu bar up top...under community click on score, then click on pilot score and type in your game id.
Score/perks don't have anything to do with how much a perked plane/gv will be, the perk cost is set by the ratio of players online.
How many perks you get for a kill is found by dividing your ENY by the enemy's ENY them multiplying that by the perk modifier.

Theres two different "points systems".
One is the scoreing system. According to stats (kill per death ratio, hit percentage, kills per hour, damage done etetc etc) players get ranked in the different categories (bomber, fighter, attack, vehicle). Theres also an overall rank calculated - which is shown in ROSTER.
Then theres the perk system. You get perk points for every opponent you *kill*. How many perks you get depends on the ENY values of the two planes, the perk multiplier (ie the numbers and ratios of people online). These are the points you need to "buy" perk rides.
The system message of a player having landed has nothing to do with how they are scored. Those messages will appear every time you land with more then two scalps on your back, however you got them . Ie you can land 3 proxy kills (someone augering next to you without you having a bullet in), will get a message but you recieve no perks for them.
Also, scoring a sortie as attack or fighter also makes a difference. Check out the HELP file under Support on the webpage for more detailed info :).
Oh, and before i forget it. A rank is *very* important. A high overall rank on roster means the opponent is REAL dangerous and cant be shot. Anyone over rank 50 gets extra armor..... :D :t
