Probably not the video card's fault, its more than likely a driver issue.  Post your direct X diagnostic report and it will tell us.

actually 2 of my friends are having the same problems... should I tell them to update their direct X ?

one of my friends had to clear his harddrive (ads)
and another friend of mine, his computer will run WoW but will not run this... hmmm

Again, its probably a DRIVER issue.  If they post Direct X diagnostic reports we can check the driver info and let them know if there is a better one for the equipment they are using.  Just because it works in one game, that has no bearing on any other.

Check the Tech Support stickies for guidelines on how to get a dxdiag.
Quote
1) Press the "Start" button from the Windows desktop
2) Select "Run" from the dialog box that pops up.
3) In the Run dialog box, type DXDIAG and press the key.
This will start the Microsoft DirectX diagnostic tool.

"save all information" will prompt you to give a location where to save the dxdiag.txt file....The first third of the report will do.

As for drivers.... its not about reinstalling the old ones... its about getting the new/correct ones. Well be able to tell you more once we see the dxdiag.

Chances are if the monitor output is on the motherboard itself (that is, bunded with the USB ports, the printer, the speaker ports, all together on the back of the case) that it's not going to work in most games. If you have a monitor output on its own separate slot, you have a chance.

That's a generalization, mind you.

Hi,

I've been a paying member here about a month.  I mostly just do searches to your forum boards as to my many questions---you got a very good resource here.

I've got the same Dell setup except I'm on XP Home, I upgraded with two 512 MB matched pair of ram.  I run DSL.  I run an antivirus and firewall supplied via my ISP.  Mine works pretty good running Aces High, for a Dell.  I am surprised it functions as well as it does (I tried WarBirds 2007 and that won't run for more than about 5 seconds on-line.).  Biggest gripe I have is the graphics quality and plane warping, especially in zoom at guns solution.  I bet my marksmanship will improve with a better PC.  My video setup went by default, I use how it set itself up.  I defragged my PC this latest upgrade and that helped a lot.  I setup my system by myself and I troubleshoot solo, but by no means am I a PC geek.  When I did school, our idea of a computer was a slide rule!

I did experiment with changing the video setup with Aces High.  Result was a blank screen.  I had to uninstall auto and manually to clean it up, then reinstall the game.  I strictly go with the default setting and I'm fine.

I'm going to get a new PC for gaming.  I'm looking at Velocity Micro's "Gamers' Edge PCX Custom Gaming PC" for a bit over $2,000 with some added extras.  I probably will take this Dell and set it up to CNC my lathe.  Anyway, is this "Gamer's Edge" any good for AHII?  I figure I'll put XP on half the hard drive and Vista on the other half.

This thread is almost a year ago, but maybe this will help somebody.

(My 1st post here, sorry if this messes up in the process.)

Actually, that particular Intel chip should work, but you need to update the driver for it (http://www.intel.com) and make sure rhe "Maximum Texture Size" is set to 256 in the game's "Video Settings".

If you cannot get to the "Video Settings" option at the beginning of the game, then you might try removing the "video8.cfg" file from the game's "C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\settings" folder.
