Notice the M1 is only a touch longer then the M1A. That amuses me, I guess the flash hider/muzzle break on the M14s is that much longer.
I am so glad to get it back, I am going to shoot it a few times then send it off for a rebuild.
Few more pics,

This is the 1911 clone that came back with the M1 along with 2 rugar revolvers that I didnt take any pics off.

Next time we all go shooting I will bring them though.

I miss the M-14 :( Made me look so good on the range - then that Springfield 45/90 made me look like a chump. But atleast I killed that fence with the M-14.
hoorah!

Those are some very nice looking rifles you got there:aok
-
Nice, clean guns!
Very nice.
-
The color on the M1 is weird, it does not look that Brown in real life. It is slightly lighter gray then the M1A, the cam just makes it look weird.

Your M1A/M14 is missing four inches of barrel.
Yours is a modified M1A. Standard M1A/M14 barrel is 22" long.
That's why its short.

Nice!

Glad you got the Garand back... Lets go shooting.

Ewww, synthetic wooden hand grip..
I sure hope anything you do to them is only temporary and they can easily returned to normal condition...
-
GTO, where did you get your Garand at? I'm still debating on getting one through CMP. They are both beautiful rifles.
-
Nice garand! I still cringe when I see that socom though... that goiter on the top of the weapon looks like it needs to be lanced. ;)
The rear sight on your garand has the WWII era lock bar.. not common! I'm still looking for one in perfect condition for mine. The NM rear sight on mine tends to gain a bit of elevation every few shots; finally wound up tightening out the adjuster to lock it. Now I gotta get into the tool bag to change elevation.
Beautiful springfield collection there, gator!

Hawklore.
Thye composite top fore grip on the M14 was standard.

thats my next rifle
btw..great rifles...not a fan on how those eotechs look..sure they work great..but...
and..the plastic wood colored hand guard ..you have got to replace
anyone want a mini-14 ranch rifle Stainless steel..comes with many hi cap mags...

I picked it up at a local gunshop years ago.
I am still planning on buying a pair of Garands from CMP, I just have to pay off the speeding ticket I got in Oregon now.

Ahh but there is the funny part.
The M1 is only about an inch and a half longer then the M1A with a 16 inch barrel. The pics don't show it well, but it's the case.
I found it funny the Carbine version of the M1A is only a tiny bit shorter then the Garand.
The Garand feels better to me too. Shoulders better. Feels built better.

Yeah its a 1944 Garand, and has the lockbar sights and an uncut op rod.
When I have it rebuilt the guys doing it is going to put NM sites on but leave the Lockbar in place. (says its an easy mod).
I am not sure if it is all original, but I am pretty sure all the parts are SA.
The gunsmith is going to tell me if its rare, if it is I wont change much, if not a match grade barrel is going in and a NM trigger job too.
