Did ya' ever sit down for a "short" AH flight, just to kill 10 or 15 mins.. As soon as you liftoff the sounds in your house (wife screaming, kids fighting, dog barking, cars crashing, etc) fade away. Next thing ya' know? 2? 3? 6? hours are gone? The house is in darkness, everybody asleep in bed. And there you sit,, saying; "Huh? Wha' happen?"..
This damn sim is like a time-machine..

Honestly I haven't done that in quite a while, there was a time when I could lose myself in the game and the hours would slip by but those days have passed as the game seems to have changed and it doesn't hold my interest like it once did.

Yep, know just what you mean. I often stumble into work, bleary eyed because I wanted to fly just one more sortie. Or because I just had to take an ostie out and defend that blinking base.

LOL....
I have done a number of 12 shifts on no sleep thanks to this dam game
When my boss asks what’s wrong with you I reply Insomnia........
But I think he knows I am bull chitting cause he caught me trying to plug my X45 into the mainframe.....

Ive been on for hours and often get ready to call it a night at 11 or so and someone will come in and do something that makes me want to stay and the next thing I know its 2am. Yes its a sickness. If I could have the time back Id probably have my house completed among other things.

Oh so true.

Back when I was in JG2 I used to be ready to log pretty late at night and then Lazerus would pop in for the first time in weeks, we'd get into our usual trouble and next thing you knew it, Moot signed in from an island near Madagascar. Not a good sign ;)

My wife told me if I didn't give her some family time she was going to take the infant son and leave. I told her get the hell out and take the little b tard with you. Not really. :cry I'm not married and got no kids. My bad sense of humor only reflects in a sarcastic way my sense of guilt for all the hours I spend here. Please realize this. But this game does definitely affect my income level cause I don't go to work to much anymore (self employed). I'm starting to worry about my old age and what I will have when I get there. But hell! Its fun as hell and I just love it! We only live once, we should enjoy it while we are here. Most all of us would do the same for their kids by letting them enjoy the fun things in life. Wouldn't we? We can play in moderation, maybe? So everybody should be happy and its all good. Life is good. Imagine the old days when they didn't have all this cool stuff we got now. TY God I say. Its a blessing

If the average sortie is 45 minutes then 3 or 4 sorties sure adds up. Who only flies one or two sorties anyway? :)

The worst i ever managed was a film in TA... 9 hours straight....
Makes you start thinking :D.
-
once played from 9PM on a friday night to 7PM saturday night straight.

moderation - it prevents burn out

AH is the reason for my bad grades.:D :D :D

It's due to the physics of relativity. In the cockpit of your virtual reality you are travelling at 300mph-ish. Einstein demonstrated that the faster something moves the slower time passes. Thus your virtual time passes slower than those left behind in the kitchen, watching tv etc. So 20mins on AH = 3hours elsewhere in the house.
Simple really, but no matter how hard I try to explain, my wife just can't grasp this concept.

For me it's the opposite. The house will be quiet, I drift over to the PC, surf the net a little, find myself loading the game, put on the head set jump in a perk ride, get in the air, then all hell breaks loose.....
Wife ack starts ... "you and that bl**dy game, blah blah, you don't spend family time anymore, blah blah"... kids start killin each other... chores need done, etc
So as any good hubby and father does, I turn up the volume and loose myself in the game.

i sat down at my computer and started flyin around, vulchin in a 262 listenin to that sweet 30mm cannon effect. when i started noticing glare from the sun on my monitor.
