I think it would be cool if some of our realy talanted guys
eg waffel and greebo and fester among others could make new 3d models of aircraft and submit them to the game to be added.
I know its hard and the softwear is expencive but maybe if certain guys were willing to put the work in Hitech could provide the softwear to complete the job.
Of course the flight and handeling of theplane would still be down to hiteck to implement but the time consuming job of making and rendering a 3d model would be speeded up.
i for one would love to give try but i dont think i have the ability but i can throw a skin on it afterwards.

In this link everyone can become a plane maker -

Unfortunately there's no QC.
HTC does all their work in-house because they have set requirements, such has how many polygons they want to show, how to create cockpits and fuselages in one file, how to create level-of-detail scales, etc etc.
Stuff that they alone know how to do, and that they need to control because they have to code stuff for it. You can't, for example, code gear retracting if the gear SHOULD be vertices 200 through 260, but is in fact 890-950 (or some such).
It's all integrated, coding, modeling, the entire game. So you really can't outsource the modelling unless the modeller has intimate knowledge of everything else that's going on.

While I agree that maintaining quality control is upmost important, the ability for the community to make aircraft would represent an important leap for adding new aircraft.
Do we not have the same QA requirements for addings skins?
a) Historical
b) replica of the original
c) for the correct model of the aircraft
Similiarly, passionate AH modders would probably develop aircraft with the same level of detail that superfly and pyro put into the sim.
It would, however, require a program change to allow modded aircraft to be added like sounds.
You could submit a new aircraft with proper documentation on top speed, climb rates, turn rates, weapons, etc just like we do for aircraft skins.
This actually works for Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam-Europe from Third Wire. They have tools to allow you to do this.
HTC could then release aircraft the same way they release skins. :aok

Yes, only, folks would submit the best data for their favorite planes. That's the major reason HTC won't let anybody else choose stats. He calls it cherry picking the data ("cheery" when he's in typing mode).
HTC will retain all ability to specify performance of any aircraft in this game. That's a given.
I took the original post to mean that people would create the 3d form only.

don't think so
3d model is only top of the ice mountain , most of planes can have 3d shape within a week.
Even skinning them is not so hard.
Most of the work have to be done in special 3d software, wich is expencive.
So anyway 80% of work have to be done in HTC

A lot of plane shapes are already modelled. Is there any software that will allow third parties to take an existing plane model (say a Yak) and then adapt it by changing bits already in place to a new plane (say the P-39). A sort 'evolutionary' development. This keeps a working model and helps prevent incompatible models being developed.
Once built the new performance figures (from HTC) would replace the original.
This technique could be used to turn out Wellingtons, Stirlings, Halifaxes, He-111s, etc. as well as different marks of Mossies - all adapted from exisitng planes.
However - does the number of available planes affect performance anyway?

i know the more skins we have the more memory the game uses especialy if you have other skins enabled so ucan se what your mates are flying.
i dont think the actual amout of planes matters

wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's allways matter
