Very nice... Try this one:

The 4th copter (459) looks out of perspective/size relative to the copter in front of it... photochop?
-
Nice ... but confused.
-
Clearly photochop.
-
Airliners.net scrutinizes their photographs very carefully, there is absolutely no photochops there. The photographer also has 103 other photos there.
-
I have 2k+ photos on my harddrive and a few of them are chopped. Which proves nothing in itself.
That picture just screams out 'chopped'. And a bad job at that.
Edit: After reviewing the full size photo in question it seems legit. The exhaust distortion made the low resolution version look butchered.

the helicopters in the first photo are Russian MI-24 HINDS right?

He wants to form an opinion. Give him a couple of minutes...

You sound like a winner!

Now THAT'S an opinion I can endorse!!!!!

Just seems odd one can't ID soviet hardware on sight, they taught us that in school almost. So I am guessing he was born after 1988 at least.
-
You went through grade school being taught how to identify soviet aircraft?????? Where can I find this, and how do I sign up my future children!
-
My dad was in the Air Force, in 87 I was in 3rd grade on the George AFB elementary school the teacher had the cieling filled with models, and would usually talk about them in the closing moments of class

Its not easy to get them crisp and clear with an 70-300 4-5,6 lens
on a grey day.
Gettting a good shot is something i pretty underestimated

could you imagine how it would feel hiding in some foxhole and have that world of hurt roll in on you

I guess they have the stuka effect they look terrifying but they are big and noisy.
Not as sneaky as a Apache.
-
4 of them flying 20 meters above my car make me duck in a seat during parking manuvers ;-)

We had an aerobatic team flying Su-25 shturmoviks back in the 90s. What scared me was that they literaly turn on their tails and dance like i don;t know what, imagining this beasts ironong me when i sit in a trench or ride some armour is really frightening. And they are almost silent when they approach...
Mi-24s are not too noisy. They are faster then Apache and probably are more "sneaky". And they don't fall down like leaves in autumn being shot by a grandfather with a 100 years old K98 ;)
-
Beard, don't you guys have these now:

Hehe I believe my own ears :) They are not super-silent, but not more noisy then other choppers. Prop blades always make noise, they produce small "sonic booms", at least when the chopper moves at some significant speed.
It's no use to hang silently over the battlefield. Hit and run, so the guys with stingers will not have time to aim. Anyway Mi-24 was quite effective so far.

Great that you guys didn't scrap this beautiful machines. I hope you have the guts to refuse from adopting "NATO standard weapons" and keep making your own stuff.
To Neubob: Mi-28 and Ka-50 are in minimal numbers now. We have several thousand Mi-24s and maybe a dozen of new choppers. I hope that in cae of war our industry will start making new models, like they did with T-34s in 1941, but I don't want to witness it. Did you see an "Osobo vazhnoye zadaniye" film? "Frontline needs IL-2 like bread, like air!..."

What time is it where you are, Beard?? Why are you still up?

It's 05:30. It's why I don't have I-net at home. Now I am at my Father's place. It's ironic: I live 20min away from his job, he lives 20min from mine, both of us spend about an hour to get to work.
Both our flats have no hot water now (bastards do their best to turn it off simultaneously at all the places where my relatives and friends live), but here, at the University district, cold water is warm enough to wash without screaming. I live in the North, Rechnoy Vokzal, and it's almost impossible to wash hands in cold water without getting frozen. Main water intakes are not far from my flat :(
OK, finishing a last cigarette and going to bed. See you! ;)

Yep, that's the Rodina I remember.
Goodnight Beard. If I had a bottle of cold bellybutton vodka right now, I'd drink a shot to you <>

Are you joking me? The offensive battle tactic of the hind is to fly like a fixed wing aircraft and never hover...There is nothing "sneeky" about this helicopter...It's a fat pig with a lot of armor and a fair weapons package...I'll take one alpha model -64 over the latest version hind anyday....

Oh yea? Silly Russians! AIRWOLF could whup ya all and fly at Mach 2 LOL
