I really have terrible hit chances with the Osty. I get better success in an M-16 while it lives, but usually a cannon-bird will find me pretty quickly and end the sortie.
Here's some info:
In spring of 1944, the Inspector for the Panzer Troops (In 6) indicated that current flakpanzers in the Wehrmacht inventory were unsatisfactory, and that new vehicles should be developed with the following minimum requirements:
A rotating armored turret large enough to accommodate a three to four man crew.
A 2000m effective range
Twin guns
A sufficient ammunition supply
Maxiumum height, 3 meters
Full radio equipment onboard.
The Wirbelwind design met most of these requirements. Vehicle height was kept low by recessing the gun mount into the top of the hull. The recess allowed for a smaller turret design and kept the overall vehicle height well under the 3 meter limit. Addition of a hydraulic traverse to the turret allowed a traversing speed of 60o/sec. A total of 3200 rounds for the four 2cm guns was carried (with storage for spare barrels provided on the sides of the engine compartment).
The Wirbelwind was developed as a conversion for Panzer IV chasses which had been returned from the front for rebuilding. Armored protection on the hull varied because the chasses used for conversion included Ausf F through Ausf G Panzerkampfwagen IV.
I realize that another GV wouldn't be high priority at this point with CT comming soon, but YUMMY--> quad 20mm's to smack vulchtards with would absolutely make my day!! :aok

Nope. None at all.

The LTAR's want it, keep asking for it, BUT.........................t hose guys are bad enough in the Ostie, would hate to go up against them in that thing. Flying straight into the ground would be better:confused:
-
Yes!, bring it on. The Ostie is a P.O.S.
-
Ya know how abused these would get? Why even attack bases with panzers or tigers anymore? Just send a bunch of ack stars of death to destroy everything...I think its a bad idea, and if some anomoly of online video gaming occurs and HTC does happen to add this then it should have a perk the same as a 262 if not higher!
-
How can you say it's a bad idea? You do know it has smaller guns than the Ostie, right? Just more of them. Kinda like a big M-16 that drives around at slower speeds. Your panzer, tiger statement doesn't float either.
:D

YES ! ! ! :aok :aok :aok
-
yea this looks good, but u have to perk somethin like this. Imagine attackin a field in a 110 or p47 and there nothin but these little buggers around, plus u dont want to put m16 and ostie out of work either. Just look at the pic, that thing looks like a vulchers worst nitemare:lol
-
Perks would be fine. Lots of people don't spend what they have anyways. We only have one perked GV currently, aye?

Exactly! :aok

nightmare? are you kidding? that would be great to vulch with!
-
Yes, it is my fav:aok
The N1k, Tiff and others have 4 20mm cannons? I should get them too!

As an osti lover, that thing would win my heart real quick:aok
-
Look at that thing, we need this:aok . Half the cost of the tiger(im not sure how much it costs). I do alittle m16 work and there is nothin else but the tiger to spend those perk points on, i have seen alot of request for gvs but this is a one that they just have to do.
-
Make it the first perked AA GV and give it an anemic ammo load. That way you'll know where to drop the bombs from 10k...at the re-arm pads!
-
this should be a perked GV as it would be the most deadly mobile AA vehicle.
-
87 produced during war
-
Another flak vehicle? what for?
Nope.
-
flaks are ghey
-
At least they're not GAY, that would be icky.
-
Its nice looking not looking forward to it, but nothing a Yak-T 37mm can't turret. :D But i say let have it just perk it close to the tiger

It needs added, the ground pounders need a short & long range flak capability. The M-16 just gives kills to whoever happens to be flying by at the time....at least when I'm in it. My M-16's blow up when in contact with an enemy birds shadow. :lol I would also like to see the 88MM & 90MM towed flaks added for that longer range punch, the 88MM would be better IMO since it was a good AT gun too. It could be perked & have AT or AA rounds in the load-out.
-
Yes, would be nice to see more GV units :aok

Speaking of this...
Why can't we man the 88's on the fields/towns to shoot down incomming high-alt buffs? Would fight that helpless feeling a bit when you see sets of 20k Lanc's inbound to take out hangers. Would also help reward coordination: "We need those 88's taken out! Can someone help us out at A1? Time-on-target eta is 5 mikes!!" Not a huge issue (and out of context for this thread..oops  ), but would be nice to hit 'tab' to highlight a formation and issue approximate altitude information for that target to our fuze-setter, then send up nice little HE puffs of luv to the toolshedders.
