Title: cell phone ring tone......
Post by: Swoop on June 28, 2006, 06:54:10 AM
I finally (after all these years) got myself a phone I can connect to the PC and do all kindsa things that'll get boring fast.  Trying to find an mp3 that works as a ring tone.......

The Kinks - Louie Louie wont play on the phone for some reason :(

George Thorogood - Bad to the bone works great!  But damn, bad to the bone is just so cheesy as a ring tone.

Any recommendations?

Seems like "20th Century Man" by the Kinks seems appropriate :)

well i've stuck with my personal fav 'imperial march' from the star wars films.

and on my new phone (a nokia N80) it also says the name of the person phoneing using text to speech so after checking the timing of when the phone announces the name i mixed in the darth vadar sound byte 'I am your father' into my imperial march mp3, 4 seconds into it.

so i get.

imperial march starts - do do do dun dar dun - 'Name of person ringing'- "I am your father" do do da do dun dun dun DOOooo

makes me smile anyway :-D

I use British Grenadiers, the version from the Barry Lyndon soundtrack. Fife & drum makes people jump :)

I'm so 20th Century. I can't do it, I just can't bring myself to buy a cell phone. For one thing the regular land line phone in the house rings way too much anyway, I don't want to talk anybody on the phone if I'm out doing some activity. Plus this paying for minutes , and signing contracts........  Much less worrying about a ring tone. Dunno guess I'll just keep using smoke signals , grunts, and clicks.;)

It's gotta be a track with a cool intro cos....well....you answer the call dont ya?  Bad to the bone just works so well but......

Jerry Lee Lewis was the devil
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
All of a sudden, i found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that i could do
Was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long

 - Jesus Built my Hotrod
Ministry

Best intro to a song evar!

True, close 2nd was his offshoot band for the Black Sabbath remake of "Supernaut" (from Nativity In Black).   "It's a beautiful thing"

The silly arsed ringtone thing is hilarious to me.
What`s wrong with the damn thing ringing.......like a phone?
Gets pretty annoying nowadays in any public setting. So many calls to so many people...all at once. Sometimes it sounds like a Chinese radio station on acid. :)
Here`s an idea. If you get a lot of calls on your cellmagadget, and you are in a public place, switch the thing to vibrate, clip it to your wife in a strategic location. This way you will know when calls come in without being annoying. As an added extra bonus your wife will be wearing a smile much more often. :)

Maybe Swoop should record a few people singing the song that gets on everybody's nerves:

I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves
I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves
I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves
and the song goes just like this

I use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) to create 15-20 second clips for my brothers and I... so far they've requested:

GnR - Sweet Child of Mine
A-Team theme (with explosions and jeep flips)
A bunch of Huey Lewis
The Who
Bittersweet Symphony (the beginning)
The Turtles - so happy together
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Queensryche
Prodigy
Dire Straits
and even the old Batman theme

It's pretty quick using audacity.

What is your max bitrate swoopy?
