OK, I show up today after having my Avatar for over a year and it's been removed. Could you please let me know why? I mean there are cartoon girls on saturday mornings more sedutive and revealing then the one I used.
I guess what bothers me most is not even getting the respect of an e-mail to ask me to remove it and give a reason why (i.e. Someone complained, we have posted rules against this type of Avatar or something) Just...Poof...gone is not very professional at all, especially since it has been fine for over a year. If it had only been up a week or so it would be totally different in my eyes.
In all the time I have had this Avatar only 1 person didn't like it. We discussed it and came to a mature and mutual agreement. He put me on his ignor list and he didn't have to view it again. Then the other 99% that liked it along with myself could enjoy it.
I know an Avatar is not really any big deal, but it's the principle of the thing that it was removed without any forewarning. I know this is HT's playground and he can do whatever he deems nessessary, but that doesn't mean it was handled the most professional way.
I could and should have e-mailed this concern, but I thought what the hec, I didn't get one and I also was wondering how many honestly were offended by my Avatar? And how many liked it?
If your going to censor one type of Avatar that really isn't bad in the eyes of the majority then to me you should just ban Avatars all together. Anyway I am sure this will get locked for what ever reason.

I have no idea why you are shocked/suprised that the jiggling jubblies avatars are disappearing. You should have expected it when the CPID's were over-censored a few weeks back. HTC over-reacts, but at least they over-react in a consistant way.

OOZ that's great but it wasn't posted over a year ago when i started using it. It is also in a standard thread not located in the admin section where they place there forum rules. (not that I read the forum rules everyday either) I don't read every thread in the General forum.
Main point is the way they did, not being professional enough to shoot me an e-mail asking me to remove it due to what ever reason they deemed for changing there minds on what is Now exceptable. In the time it took them to remove it, place that, "I need a decent avatar" Avatar in it's place (which to me is kinda childish, they could have just left it blank) they could have PM'd me letting me know the reason for wanting it removed.
I may not have been happy or agreeded with there decidion, but at least they were professional and curtious enough to inform me. I can respect that and i would have removed it with no issue.

Yeah after the "Bring back JB28s Avatar" thread I guess Skuzzy figured he would go after eveyone that was questionable. I guess it was under the guise of being fair. Still sucks tho. IMO there were way more people upset about blood on the windscreen than any boobies in avatars? Go figure.

Hondo would prolly still have that avatar if someone else hadn't jumped on the boobie avatar bandwagon.His avatar was a simple computer generated avatar and not the real thing.Maybe if somebody didn't play the one up game with the boobie avatars he would still have his.

Overall I'm kind of glad the avatars were cleaned up. I was once checking this forum (a long time back) at a campus computer lab and it just happened to have a post from hondo. A student I was talking to stopped mid sentence, and I had to explain "It's just a forum, that's somebody's avatar".
I would like to be able to read it without folks thinking I'm a perv or anything.

Your being oversensative, I have seen far worse on Network television then any of the Avatars. For Gods Sake - Miami Vice showed more Arse back in the day then any of the Avatars you are having problems with.

Here at work I can get sacked if I have the avartars such as SFCHONDO dispayed.. you know what I did, I went into my user settings a turned off the display of avatars problem solved...........

Exactly, like I stated in my original post, I had 1 guy that had a concern with it. He was adult enough to disscuss it with me and we came up with a solution that worked for both parties. We decided he would put me on his ingor list. But I like knowing that other option about the avatars.
Wow that is to easy. Those that have a problem with it don't have to view it, those that love it get too. both parties are happy.

For example say I'm a total prude or something and just can't stand the sight of a woman's ankle showing from under her skirt, and somebody has an avatar of just that. *IF* I were to disable avatars on the entire forum I lose not only my own avatar, not only the avatars that are non-offensive, but I lose the ability to scroll down a long post looking for folks' avatars I recognize. People do this. I had folks tell me way back when I changed my avatar that they missed being able to scroll down and instantly spot my posts (no comment on the merit of my posts, it was just instantly recognizable).
So why would 1 person require me to ruin my forum-browsing experiece, hypothetically?
I won't disable avatars for any one person. The forum has standards that will kick in before avatars get THAT bad.

Having to have someone disable avatars is irrelevant. If that was the best option around, we would just turn them off for all.
The dominoe effect had caught on. Once one did it, then others followed. Quite frankly, we do not want our board associated with "the board with the most boobies" on it. If you are a boob, then I guess it could be considered an appropriate avatar. But then again, if you are a boob, you probably are not going to last long around this crowd anyways.
We are a game company. We would appreciate our contact with the outside world be a favorable one. If you want to watch Miami Vice, then go watch it.

I agree 100%! Ive accidentally read 3 of Krusty's posts now when I could have easily avoided them before. Bastige. Turning off avatars would mean I'd have to read at least part of every post and couldnt easily ignore the people I dont want to read.
You guys should be grateful for the freedom you DO have in choosing an Avatar. Most specific purpose BBS's limit you in your choices FAR more than Skuzzy and Co. do.

first off, i know that Skuzzy does this work for free probably. (not that i agree with all that he does) and thanks for your time. however, on the other hand, i want to back what SFCHONDO is saying. to repeat would be redundant, so everyone please scroll back up and read what hondo is saying. although it may not change the outcome, the courtesy of discussion PRIOR to the event is just respect. respect that i know HONDO is worthy of (and probably myself too, but hey, i might be biased on that ruling :D )

Well, in Timofei's off-topic remark, a short-coming in my post is noted.
If you are not familiar with American slang, 'boob' is another word for numpty.
Also note this. The broad action taken is an effort to be consistent. I got a PM from a player who lost his avatar and took no time at all in telling me about all the other avatars in question. He was right in we were being inconsistent. We corrected the inconsistency.

I am very familiar with epilepsy. My avatar does not flash. The flicker/frame rate is not associated with triggering epileptic events. I checked. Just FYI.

just to say a few things....
we have been through this before, I'm sure Skuzzy remembers. IIRC there was a point in time that i think we DID have "the board with the most boobies", and it actually did get so out of control I am thoroughly impressed Dale, Roy, and Doug didn't have a brain aneurysm. Heck I was one of the offenders back then... and someone who got funny looks if someone saw it at work. Back then I believe it was just to see how far we could all go, and some crossed the line and were "punished" for it.
Over the 4+ years I have been around this forum alot has changed. I remember the day avatars were enabled, it was totally foreign to me. Anyway in that time the "personality" of the board has changed alot as well. If I were to have to put a finger on it I would say the board has become more like a high school. There are clicks, there are jocks, there are nerds, and every other group you can think of. They all also seem to act like high schoolers (myself included). I don't have a reason why, or an answer to anything, I just wanted to make that observation.
As to the current state of avatar affairs, I agree with what someone said already. I identify some people's posts by their avatars. When I want to see what Hitech said in a 5 page thread I scroll through quite fast just looking for "I Coad". I think they are a useful thing in quickly identifying someone. I hope they stay.

I see you didn't read my post fully, I have no problem with your decidsion to change what is or is not allowed. It's the manner which you did it. I have had it for a long long time, be curtious enough to shoot me a quick e-mail or pm and let me know. you have decided to change what is allow now.

I read your post. And I see you took my post as a personal answer to your post. However, it wasn't. If you wanted a personal response you could have PM'ed me or emailed me. But instead you took it to the bulletin board.
You ask for what you are not willing to give. Your choice for your avatar was yours. Not mine.
HT is the only one who makes the rules. Just FYI.

OK, So your post was not in response to mine. That's fine, I thought your first response would be to the original poster. My mistake. as for why I didn't e-mail or PM you was stated in my original post. You could have also e-mail your personal response to my original post too.
Anyway no reason to respond to this. This is just going to get worse the longer we disscuss it. I have put you on the defensive now and things never go good when someone is that state.
Just lock the thread and lets just move on.
No hard feelings here. Just because I have a disagreement with someone doesn't mean I hate them or there product. AH still the best game out here.

I dont really see what the big deal is. I got my avatar yanked, no different than yours. A cartoon chick with bouncing boobs. This was like two years ago. Whats' the big deal? And does it really mean that much to you?

Didn't read my post to good. Issue is not that they changed there mind on what is Now acceptable. I even stated the avatar in itself was not that big a deal if they wanted it removed. Christ, if it's a no boob issue then they should go yank half the nose art in the game. One B-24 comes to mind with the naked chick with the dragon. Bare boobies right there for the whole world to see. if your going to police the BBS for boobs then go police your games nose art.
Now i have no issue with the nose art, and I certianly wouldn't want them to remove them. But anyone can go around and nit pick dam near anything if they want to be a whinnie arse.
Anyway this issue is closed. I didn't get an answer from them on my original question either by PM or here on the boards and I have excepted the fact they won't.
