Title: CH Fighter Stick / X45... Had both?
Post by: Vudak on June 29, 2006, 05:39:08 PM
Hi all...  I guess this qualifies as a "hardware" question...

I'm seriously thinking about getting the CH setup if only because I have doubts as to Saitek continuing the X45 lineup for much longer (if they even still do)...  I find this a great stick setup for people who don't want rudder pedals but still want more control then a twisty stick (the rudder doesn't move at all until I want it to, which is good).

The thing is, I *really* like how the X45 feels compared to the X52...  Sure I'll get joked at for this one, but the tighter feel is much better...  The X52 is much too sensitive for me.

I was wondering, has anyone had both an X45 and CH products, and what does the CH joystick feel like comparitavely?  Is it very loose, like an X52, or is it more tight?  The X45 is the tightest joystick I've come across, and I'd rather delay the inevitable and try to stock up on a few more X45's if the CH is going to give me incredible headaches in this department.

Thanks,

I have had the X36, many X45s, X52 and the ch fighterstick
the ch stick had more a loose feeling like the X52 than the tighter X45

my X52 is in the box in the closet. I use an x45 that has 3 years left on the warranty but I don't think they'd replace it with another 45 so I grabbed a new one off of ebay for $51.
One up there now:

Or you can get a refurb for $40 from Saitek here:

I swapped out the return spring of my X52 with an ST290 return spring because of the slack on the stick. Worked like a charm.

CH is weaker but is more smooth and precise.

the X45 I am using now came from Circuit City online.
I also got their 4 year warranty.
the stick  started acting up and since it was within the 1st 12 months, CC had me contact saitek for repairs.
they switched out the stick with a refurb and, knock on wood, I haven't had an issue with it yet. The refurb looked and acted like brand new.

I know the feeling. Mine is getting me frustrated, because w/ my X-45 throttle, when i throttle back to 75%, it goes to 0 throttle, when i go to 50%, it goes to 1/2 throttle, when i go to 25%, it goes to 0 throttle, and when i go to 5%, it goes to 5% throttle. It makes it hard to maintain precise formations!

the CH is like zero resistance compared to the X45...

but it was stated before, the action is mroe presise and smoother.

my current rig is a CH fighterstick and an X45 throttle and CH pro pedals. the X45 stick just sits sort of behind my moniter.

other than my puny girl hands not fitting on the CH stick the best i still love it over the X45 stick. more buttons, and the better action made me fly better.

Nicely written review of both sticks and throttles
