Title: Firefight in Afghanistan
Post by: cpxxx on July 02, 2006, 09:01:09 AM
Interesting article on Aghanistan from the Sunday Times. A British journalist with the Paras and the Royal Irish under fire. Her last paragraph I feel is very telling.

Quote
Far from losing any men, the brave paras from C company had killed about 20 Taliban. Yet the Ministry of Defence put out nothing. If Justin and I had not been there, you would probably never have read about it.

You're right, we don't hear about the heroics or the good deeds involving either of these two conflicts as much as we should.  All the bad stuff (wich should be reported as well) creates a very cloudy and inaccurate picture IMHO.

Where'd you see the photos?  I was looking for them but didn't see any links.  Thanks for the post though, this was a good read.

Good read.

Always knew the Afghanistan fighting has been underreported since my son served there and told me of the fights, fights we never heard about here.
