ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... (http://www.shipsim-secure.com/index.php?id=4)
That sounds REALY exciting...
-
Well.. if there's a market for Train Simulators... a boat sim could get a following... the Trains don't even leave the tracks unless you try really hard.
-
Maybe a cool iceberg slalom with the Titanic would be fun.
-
I was going to say something mean about some kind of fly fishing simulation, but i see it's already been released.

It's all fun and games until, after playing for hours, you make a super tricky docking maneuver in a crowded port that disregards all the rules (yet works perfectly) and they unveil that you have been controlling ACTUAL SHIPS as part of a clever strategic outsourcing experiment. Then Mazer Rackham comes out from behind your desk crying and shouting "You did it! You did it!" and the whole world celebrates your achievement.

lol Chairboy...
"Why is my shipment of bermuda shorts going to Antarctica?!?! Tell that dweeb to come back from AFK!"

Chill out Wiggins.........

Oh come on, who could resist the urge to live the life of Nilson?
This way we can all get drunk and run aground on some rocks!:D
-
I think he's on vacation (probably sinking some boats) as we speak.

Have to create a scenario of a captain drunk on cheap european liquor and lutefisk to make it feel "more at home" :D

hi diddlely dee a Nilsons life for me!
edit: I might get this game just cause it models Hamburg, I wonder how far down the canal system I can take a 30ft yacht, maybe even to my house.
-
The only good part was running into other boats at 10knots and seeing the damage build up. Overall, I don't think it's worth the $30.

Wrong thread.

I think it depends on what you want out of a game. I personally played flight sims to gain an insight as to what it was like in WW2, and to learn about the teamwork/tactics etc. I have no interest in a game of StickJerk™, in which the object is to tweak various game and stick settings to the maximum effect and then pretend to be a "combat ace". Heck, X0847Marine said it best, many moons ago. :lol
For these reasons, I have greatly enjoyed Silent Hunter III - exploring the underwater world of WW2 U boat crews, and the tactical decisions to be made.
I have tried that train simulator - it was fun, but not something I would want to play over and over.

I CAN'T wait for this sim:
Buckingham Palace Sentry Simulator!!!!!!

LOL!!! Oh, and how is Silent Hunter III? i only have number two :(
-
Diablo! Looks like a typical scene from American "foot" ball - the ¾ of the game in which folks just stand around after a man dressed in a zebra outfit approaches, blowing a whistle, waving his arms, and sometimes throwing his yellow handkerchief into the fray...

What types can you use?

There's a 5 page thread about SHIII in here somewhere, lots of info and screenshots.
Beetle, did you finaly manage to get off on a campaign, or are you still playing with the training missions? :D
Back on track: I've played worse games, but I usualy had the good excuse of not knowing what I bought!

LOL SAW, you cheeky monkey! :lol
Yes, I have a career going. Quite often when I get involved with a large convoy, I'll save the game, then come back to that save point and attack the convoy using different tactics, and see what works best - torpedoes at different depths, different spread etc. But I don't equate ego to tonnage sunk, or masquerade as an aspiring U-boat captain - LOL. It's a game...
BTW, half the time my sonar does not work. And in time compression, I am apt to get jumped by aircraft or lone destroyers. Game quirks I guess...
-
Hey Beet1e, a real hardcore sub simmer DOESN'T use time compression!!

That and breathing from a plastic bag to simulate the lack of oxygen during a long dive...
Oh yeah, no bathing and no wimin neither*
* actually, the no girl part is easy to achieve without any hygiene nor social life.

Their box ship is tiny! It's not even Panamax. Right that's the unhealthy amounts of shipping knowledge out the way.
Now then, for fans of SHIII & the shipping sim: excitement awaits! (http://www.ais.org/~gary/webcam/cam.html)
