Ok I have 2 22inch CRT Monitors. One is a Sony Trinitron which I was using and the other a NEC Multisync. The NEC was newer and just sitting in the box so I decided to swap them out.
The NEC monitor has a function called constant brightness. Sounded ok to me...tried it....turned it off etc.
The differences between the two are:
1.) Ghosting......the NEC gave me sort of a smeared look even in text. I adjusted contrast brightness etc. to no avail. Degaused didn't seem to help. The text on the clipboard seemed to be clipped, not solid. Whereas on the Sony the text was black, clear and crisp.
2.) Probably most important the NEC had a three row connector with 15 pins. The Sony has a larger connector (which I am using again) with apparently more pins. Since it is in use I can't count the number of pins. But since it is longer I am guessing there might be more pins.
Question....refresh rate was set at 85 for both, why was the Sony better then the NEC in video quality? Did I have the NEC setup wrong? If so what do I need to adjust to get the clarity from the NEC that I'm getting from the Sony?
