See Rule #8
-
I suggest you listen to the podcasts that were posted on the boards from the recent AH Con. HiTech explained that he gets your type of complaint a lot, and it is due to internet lag, not "cheating" or "cord yanking" as a lot of people surmise.
In a nutshell, if you see him jumping all over the screen in front of you, rest assured he is seeing you jump around all over the place as well. It is due to the two of you being too close for the positional information transmitted over the net to properly keep up.

The cable jerking myth was dispelled many, many months ago.
-
It might be nice to put a ping plot on the ALT-I inflight display to see what your pings are to the server, of course it wouldn't tell you what your opponent's ping is but it might help a lot of pilots figure out if there is a problem on their end.
-
Like to see it when a guy has a bad connect he just gets booted.

Just seems strange to me that you can be tracking a boagy for several minutes and watch him manuver in and kill 3 of your team mates, all this time his plane never once shows any signs of warping, then as soon as I or one of my team mates does a good acm and gets on his 6 for the kill shot he just happens to magically warp during that 1 second firing window!!! To me that is just to convienant to blow it off as random warping.
-
film it, and send it to HTC. HT said there is alot more info avalible to him in the films than we can get, and he should be able to see whats going on. Should it turn out to be something funny, Im sure he'll take care of it :)

This is the point. While watching him shoot down 3 of your team mates, you were watching from a good enough distance that the "smoothing code" does not show any warp/lag. When you saddle up close for a 6 shot, he starts jerking the stick around to get you off, you start jerking yours trying to follow, internet lag fails to keep up, and suddenly he appears to be bouncing back and forth across your windscreen like a superball.
I have a feeling this is going to be one myth that will be harder to dispell than even the "ram model" conspiracy theory. :noid
-
ever notice that a plane will warp at the exact second you pull the trigger?
I've had it happen to me as the shooter and have had complaints of me doing it when the target.
Seems to me that if you are that close and then you pull the trigger, bullets flying, etc....thats quite a bit more info being sent. But thats just my take on it, could be wrong (and probably am)
-
Has HTC ever addressed whether turning starting a record, or taking a screen shot will cause the micro warps?

my thoughts exactly, i know for a fact, and have a number of vid to proove its existance and usage. with players who wouldnt even answer PMs and logged to never return when it was suggested. Im talking guys who would warp out of the way of clear snapshot repeatedly and still never get one your tail. then you earn another shot, wwham! 200yrds behind you.
but why care, they are so scared of you it makes them cheat and lower their own self estimation further.
edit: right on warspawn. it aint mostly lag, its mostly cheating tards,

IN !!! before scuzzification!!

Skuzzy please close and delete this thread as soon as you read it....
With all due respect, warspawn...Are you out of your skull? Why the hell would you post that in here? Yea...Maybe your partially answering the question, but did you ever think about the people who are actually going to go out and buy them now because your advertisement? Thanks to you now the entire community who reads this BBS can buy a "cheat" on ebay for a very small price...
I dont mean to sound like an arse, but im just pissed that this was posted, and I have a feeling theres actually gonna be some dweebs out there who actually buy it!
Good intent, bad judgement...
and once again im not trying to attack you warspawn...just pissed this stupid cheat has been introduced to the bbs

I guess I was tired of constantly being told it's my imagination, that such things can't happen, that it's just lag. I mean....look at the OP and the first several responses to his concern and questions. Doesn't it bother anyone else that such things can be dismissed so easily by senior members of the community?

Stop playing ostrich; just because you put your head in the sand doesn't mean it's going away. It's there, and something needs to be done rather than attacking the folks that try to illustrate what's going on with actual evidence of devices used in the world today.
And when folks mention it in 200 chat or post on the boards that it's going on...? Why do they get criticized so harshly by their peers? 99% of us are here enjoying the game and will continue to do so. Heck, I've been playing since there were films of P51's dropping Lancaster ordinance several years ago. Did keeping quiet about it fix it? Or did the community policing such things help track it down?
We still played and trusted the devs to do something about it. And they did!
I'm sure a fix will be in for this as well. And for the next thing that comes along down the road. Nature of the beast and all.

Thanks for at least acknowledging that such a thing is here, sir. Even though you dislike how I did it, perhaps now we can begin working on a solution.

Let's see I need a light switch and some wires eh! :aok
IN !

You went far and beyond appropriate evidence! You actually linked us to an active auction for this crap!

Before the big PNG stick whacks Warspawn.
Seen it before and I know it's a coming.

Understood. Perhaps one of the admins can remove the actual links, without deleting the content. Apologies for those, but I've seen other folks mentioning things like that on the boards before and they've been asked to provide proof / evidence. Now that I provide it, I guess I should expect chastisement for such a step.
Durned if ya do, durned if ya don't.
-
Its good your backing it up with legitimate evidence...It just sucks that we have people in this game that will order this stupid cheat after seeing this thread...

That sounded bad, didn't it? I am only slightly less embarrassed than the time I had a brain cramp, couldn't think of the proper translation into Portuguese of "hydrolic piston", and so demonstrated what I was trying to say by repeatedly inserting my right index finger into my closed left fist. Something was - er - mis-translated by my attempt at sign language. :rofl
-
That's why I wish there was something in the game that monitored ones connection and if they warp around bad enough they get booted out of the game. Solve this crap pretty quickly IMO.

I don't believe I was attacking anyone, just trying to pass along the info handed out by the big HTC himself. As has already been stated, if you suspect someone is doing something like you describe, film it and send it to HiTech. But I have seen my own squaddies do the occasional "superball dance" when we try close formation flying, so I am skeptical that cheating is as common as is widely believed (assuming, of course, that such a device would even work with AH).

if anyone gets PNG for this thread it would be outright wrong, in my view.

That would mean a LOT more boots/discos than anyone would care to see. Not even counting the fact that playing from overseas would be virtually impossible then.
-
One day when I rule the world... All cheaters will be castrated.
-
Warspawn several of your post on the BBS you are talking about cheats.
This thread in particular you offer a link.
Do you know how seriously HT and the crew view cheats?
I think your playing with fire here bud and risking alot.
Just my 2 cents.
Waits for the big stick
-
Nice knowing you warspawn ! not that I really knew ya.
first, this kind of info should NEVER have been posted here. Not only is it against the rules....#8 I think, but "IF" this could be happening in AH you have now doubled, maybe triped the chances of it happening as the idoits that take this game seriously and are low enough to try to cheat will now be out there trying this crap.
second, if you listened to the recordings from the Con this year you'l know HTC has a lot more info availible in the films then what we see, includeing packet lose and network info. Granted HTC isn't always real good at responding to info sent to them, but I trust that they are looking into them and handling the info the best they can. Should this game get a reputation for having "all these hacks" HTC would loose bussiness, and I don't think he would allow that to happen. Cheaters are banned, I believe those who post HOW to cheat should be banned also.
Third, this is a game, should you be so tied up into this game that your worried that someone else"might" have a cheat, and there by defeat, or avoid being defeated by youis a shame. you really need to see a doctor !!! Its a game, does it really matter who wins that much ?

Batty while I may or may not agree with you ... HT has done so in the past .
A certain person, who shall remain nameless describes how to warp on the bb. He then claimed to take anyone who wanted a demo go to the da and he'd show em . The PNG stick whacked him shortly after.
Ht takes a dim view of cheating allegations on the bb ,and just locks the thread.
Knowing this, what do you think he is going to do when you show people how?
