Ah, don't worry.  Maybe different clothes, but the same smell.  Donkey dung, or elephant dung, it's all the same.  It all stinks.

Besides, I voted Nader.  Almost wrote in Joseph Stalin for kicks, but figured there's probably enough in my file already.

Florida recount???

Definitely one for the history books fellas.  Governor "the Body" Ventura stated the other night that he hoped one candidate would win the popular vote and the other win the electoral vote...  holy shiznit! That might happen.

This election has taken a turn for the surreal...

This is a cross-roads for the country, and most people know it. There is obviously huge support for conservative ideals in this country.

But look at the odds against getting a conservative elected; it's an uphill battle:

He's fighting the natural encumbancy advantage.

He's fighting rich Hollywood

He's fighting voracious trial attorneys

He's fighting Washington

He's fighting for election at a time when most people are working and financially happy

He's fighting for decency at a time when social mores are changing

He's fighting for office at a time when there are no wars or threats of war with a depleted military

And I may be missing some more factors, but my point is that it is amazing that George Bush came through so well in this election.

That tells you something.

That was written by my speech writer, and Ill pass that on, thank you Leonid <S>, and I'd appreciate your vote next election  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Seriously though, something else of concern for all Americans is the obscene amounts of cold cash that was spent by candidates in this election.

One candidate for the Senate spent $66 Million dollars. I think senators make, what - 200k per year? What does that tell you?

I also saw figures that indicate that the presidential candidates spent $30 per vote in this election. That bothers me.

I did too jihad. For Gore to get this close shows us all how stupid the general populace has become.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

One stat I found scary, was that many of voters had made their minds up within the last three days of the election. As I predicted many moons ago, the last and best commercial won.

Gunthr, it tells me that your political system is screwed up. Thatø it's about  money, or rather, buying favours from a candidate. That the politicians have been removed from the people and do no longer serve them.

Of course, this is my Eurocentric view on it, but it does hold some truth, no?

StSanta: Yes, there is some truth to what you say about American politicians being removed from the people, and about politicians "buying" votes with favors and not serving the people. Its a good observation. It does bother me.

The level of cynicism amoung voters is high in this country.  I was hoping for a change with this election.

Even so, I'm not sure that there is any better basic system of government out there that would work for the USA given our geographical size, our population and diversity. Generally speaking, the power in this country is on a continuum, sometimes more to the left, sometimes more to the right, but it always changes hands peacefully, and most people will accept that it was fair, more or less.

What really bugs me is the sheer amounts of money that is involved, and the power of the media to influence political outcomes.

There are no doubt some things we could learn from some European countries... for instance I like Denmark's and other European countries free education, Holland's "milk money" for people who have kids and more that I'd like to see in our country. There is room for improvement, but I don't think there is very much sentiment to change our system of government.

I had a job offer in Denmark in 1998, it paid $45/ hour US Currency.  I did not take the job, you want to know why?  65-75% taxes, combined with a cost of living that was atrocious, I couldn't afford to live there.  So much for Euro politics.

Heh, I like that.

I voted Gore.  I probably would have voted for Nader if I didn't feel that getting him his 5% enhances the Republican's chances in the future by weakening the Dem's.

Regardless of who gets in, it will be interesting to see what the fallout of all this is.

Eagler, it sounds like you don't trust the American People to think for themselves.  I would think you'd want the mindless sheep to have the electoral college voting for them  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

BTW, has anyone seen "The Candidate?"  What did you all think?  Smart movie or hollywood pro-dem propaganda?

Eagler,My Comrade, AH will not be subsidized as I am sure that AH is on the long list of targeted industries to be sued out of business because AH is profitable and hurts the children.  You know AH has to be evil as it is located in Texas!!!!  You know, Texas has the worst air(kills children) and that evil Bush character who refused to insure children!!!!  Texans are to be shunned and told they don't respect diversity!!!

Play as much AH as you possibly can because you won't for long!!!!

I say target disposable diapers after AH has been dispatched!!!!!!!

Since we are stereotyping...

I heard that in a recent poll taken in the U.K., people were asked what their favorite toothpaste was.

90% asked "What's toothpaste?"

Election 2000:

Winners:

The Constitution/Democratic process.

George Bush/Republican Party.

Every derelict/wino in every Democratic Party Ward in every major American city.  These "voters" are sporting 2 bottles of their favorite grog and a carton of Pall Malls today.

Bill Clinton(no doubt laughing his fat bellybutton off).

And, as usual, the Lawyers.

Losers:

The US "Media"(Finally shown to everyone [with an IQ over 90] to be the craven, biased morons they truly are).  Journalism, thy name is mud.

The State of New York(the State's name should be changed to "New Dork".  Anyway we can give it back to the Native Americans??

Traditional American values.

Al Gore(a loser if there ever was one).

Chilling glimpse of the "intelligence" of the American Voting Public:  The elderly women whining about the ballot format in Palm Beach County.  And, their "supporters" in the Democratic apparatus and the Media.  Unbelievable.   Too stupid to read a ballot: stay home.

That's a laugh!!! The electric toothbrush was invented by, lo and behold, an American. I can see his thinking behind this - "Why should I, as an American, waste valuable body-building calories on brushing my teeth, when I could put them to good use chewing on a do-nut?"

Hence the great 'labour-saving' device you all know and love was born!

Toothpaste, schmoothpaste.....

I'm hoping the daily shower with soap catches on in Europe.

I finally understood just how a bloodhound's nose worked when I followed a couple of.....well, let's just say Europeans....through a hotel. I could follow every turn they made through the corridors even though I was 3 minutes behind them.

Soap and water! It's not just for the first Saturday of the month anymore!

I did not and will not name the country/nationality in this particular example.

However, while it was the most graphic example, it was not the only example. Those other examples would be spread around the map, too.

Toad: you're undoubtedly talking about the southern Europeans.

Us Scandinavians take showers all the time. We're so sexy that we need cold showers constantly.

But the rest of Europe should be detached from Europe. I vote that Europe should be Scandinavia only. Well, and Finland too, because they have good vodka.

Hm, if we got the girls drunk with vodka, we'd need no cold showers.

Mebbe that's what the southern Europeans do.

If I am understanding this correctly, he died while campaigning. Then afterwards, he won the election.

Voting for a dead guy.

This one goes to the book of "Stupid Laws Around The World". :D

That's beyond stupid. It's...BISHROOK!

Here, if ya die, yer outta politics. Yer party finds a replacement. And it ain't gonna be your wife, unless she's the best candidate.

Pretty easy solution. Sort of like "if you're dead, you ain't got a place as a forward in Barcelona. And if you held the place and died, your wife ain't getting it."

Hey, can I vote for Elvis? :D.

yup taxes are high in some european countries... but I'd rather have that and free health care, a pension paid by the government and better beer  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) than paying 20some % less.

In germany the highest tax rate is 54% AFAIK, and you won't have to pay that much if you make "only" $45/hour
