Title: Video capturing problems

Hello.
I am sure there are many of you guys who take videos and then load them into your computers.
My wife has been doing this since we got a camera (Sony Handycam) last autumn.
But there is a problem. Frequently, when transferring from the camera (digital, on tape) to the computer via USB, the picture freezes occationally while the sound contiues, so when playing the captured image, the sound will be ahead of the image.
Any idea what this can be?
The only things I've come up with is that the computer is not coping with the transfer rate, whatever the reason may be, - or that the camera is transferring faster than the USB can handle.So, FireWire? Or another software? Another settings of some sort?
Would be nice to have some aid on this.

Firewire usually works a lot better for transferring video. Many cameras with both will only use firewire for the video, and USB is reserved for stills.
