Title: Another obscure thread by reynolds, but please read anyway!
Post by: Reynolds on July 06, 2006, 05:05:05 AM
Okay, as many of you know by now, i am 13. Im still a kid. And as a kid, i am of course curious about... life. And there are some things i would really like to know. Now, some of you are probably thinking im talking about some sex ed thing, arent you DiabloTX? lol. j/k. I would like to know, since i have always wondered, what you guys do for a living, and when do you get time to play Aces High. If you dont mind posting what you do for work and where, i am really curious, to see wheather my squad COs are CEOs of Wal Mart, or the guy who made my cheeseburger at McDonalds. So, um thanks! Ill start:

Im Andrew, I am a High School Student, and i play during the school year after school from about 0000 GMT (2400) until about 0700 GMT, or during the summer and weekends, whenever i am not busy!

Reynolds, I was around your age when I started playing AirWarrior on AOL. That was almost 10 years ago for me.

I'm considered "young" in the game of AH2, but generally people aren't concerned about age, it is all about skill.

As for growing up, you're at that age where you'll have a lot of questions, begin to be interested in certain points of view, etc.

My first high school job was a porter at a bowling alley, but they started giving me more hours that would get into my study time. Always, and I mean ALWAYS make time for school.

Right now I work in construction and then I go back to college for the Fall and Spring. Generally I play AH2 when I'm done doing my chores around the house and working and other stuff. I can get in an hour or two before my eyes get tired. At school I'll play more on the weekends since most of my week is dedicated to classes.

I USED TO work at Hooters for 4 years, so, I probably made a lot of these guys here food.

I think you're voss.

Or a hot 17-23 yr old chick posing as a 13 year old boy to avoid getting hit on.

Or a 50 year old fat guy living in his mom's basement looking to find some teenage friends for a "sleep over".

Or some type of cop trolling for pervs.

Well, no pervs here, but voss is always good for a laugh so you might consider taking that and running with it :)

Um... If you're serious, I suggest in the future not making a big deal about your age.  If you act/write/type like an adult you'll be treated like one no matter what your age.  If you act/write/type like a child or retard, you'll be treated appropriately as well.

Me, I just got a nice lava lamp for free, and that made my day.  I hope you have a nice day too, or at least get a free lava lamp like I did.

Oh yea, gotta keep it on topic to avoid MP action...  I'm a USAF fighter pilot.  I have about 650 hours in the F-15E, and logged around 130 combat hours in operation southern watch during 3 deployments.  I've been playing AH or it's predecessors (WB and CK beta) of and on since 1995.

Sometimes I'm a jerk but whenever that happens my enormous ego is enough to get me through.  And Drex still sucks.

I'm camped outside the Crawford ranch on a 24 hour hunger strike.

or

I build Recreational Vehicles so Republicans can use up all of our fossil fuels and decimate our scenic lands with their trash and spent bullet casings.

I have only been playing the Friday scenarios lately.

...and that's when the BIG bucks start rolling in.:aok

Me, I'm a poor struggling accountant.  I used to live in a shoe box on the side of the road and everyday I'd have to wake up and lick the road clean with my tongue.

With hard work and suffering daily beatings and long trudging walks through wind and rain to get myself to and from my job (where I worked 22 hours straight) I eventually was made a partner in the firm.

Youngsters today think they have it tough...sheesh.

If you've spent any time on this BBS, you should have known you wouldn't get many serious replies to your question.  :)

I'm a software engineer, doing mostly verification and validation activities.

I fly in the Friday Squad Ops and maybe a couple of other times per month. That's not due to lack of time, it's due to lack of interest in playing it more often.

Reynolds, I'm the one that sits iin a little square city office buried in the back of the building entering all the numbers into the computer that they drop on my small desk, some are purchaseing orders, some are maintenance parts orders, and some are a complete waste of money. Lol!  Missed it on the first read through.

Anyway reynolds, you'll soon learn that as you grow older and gain more knowledge, you'll gain a good sense of humor.  Most of the stuff said in this thread is pretty funny.

The trick to finding something you like doing is to find something you like doing.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do either.  I looked at a bunch of stuff like straight service, or Annapolis or the Coast Guard Academy.  But when it came around for crunch time, the thing I enjoyed the most was actually the business my father is in.  The classes in my major (as oppossed to those not directly in my major) are actually quite fun.  They do not require a direct caffeine drip into my neck to stay awake and are quite engaging.

One of my father's friends who is also a builder one day decided he wanted to go to medical school.  So he did it and now has his own medical practice which is pulling down hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

Another of my dad's friends (builder too) decides one day he wants to be a teacher.  So he pays for his own education and comes out on the other side teaching High School in my area.

Hell, at one time I considered being an olympic sailor.  I still might be able to do it, but it's currently about middle on my priority list.  That doesn't mean I don't do anything with it.  Like I said, I'm the captain of my school's sailing team.  I race more then anyone else and push the hardest.  Don't ever let anyone talk you into not doing it or trying.

Thanks, I know what i want to do. I cannot live without flying, and i can think of no more honorable way to do it than to fly defending my country. And I know its kind of funny, im just asking for real information here, there are some times when jokes are warranted, but this isnt one, and it would be oh so very nice if people would please recognize that line, and follow it. I like jokes, i just tire of never hearing a serious word out of these people. Its rather irksome.

I'm an F-16 Eagle pilot.  I have done two tours of duty over Iran.  Theres no greater feeling in the world than the glorious honor of combat.  Lighting the turbos, locking the bogeys up on radar, then letting those Phoenix missles fly!  YEAH!

In all seriousness, if you want to do something with your life, get an education.  Sure, for the most part learning is boring.  But so is mining for gold.  Education=Success.

I'm a farmer up in cold Iceland.
Done a few other jobs, - before and while. Farm stuff in the UK and Germany, Student in Sweden, Horse groom with Cargolux, Fish industry worker, Machine contractor, Spares importer, and the Icing on the cake, an extra in a Clint Eastwood movie.
With Wife and 2 kids, AH playing is difficult, but when the cold turkey kicks in and I get snappy, Wife sends me to the computer and sais "Go fly".
In a killing mood, I usually return 1-2 hrs later with a wicked smile on my face :D
