Ello all
Sorry for not really having anything to interesting to say or earth shattering, but I feel so good I just had to post.
Yesterday was the first day of the rest of my life for me. For the first time since 1991 I am pain free ( so far)
I got Injured in 91 in the first Gulf war, ended up getting medically discharged due to the effects of either an RPG round or a Sagger round, I ended up with a smashed left leg/Ankle and numerous bits of shrapnel etc hanging around, a small piece injured my right eye that has reduced my vision by 50% in that eye.
So had plates, screws, nerve surgeries etc, always in pain, every day without fail, sometimes it would get that bad that I couldn't walk.
Well yesterday I went to see this new guy, He has a look, says that there's new techniques out there etc and promptly gives me 4 injections into my left leg/ankle, was like getting a cold compress on your head on a hot day, pain dissapeared right away, says that those injections will last me for 3 months while he gets me ready for some sort of micro surgey thing that will fix me up.
Like I said, nothing really earth shaterring and sorry for boring you all, but boy ! Do I feel good ! Got around 800 perkies saved up, think I'll splash the cash today lol
Here's to my new life !!!!!:aok

Can't remember to be honest, I'm to go back in 10 days for othrotics and I'll ask him then and post it here for you
Ty for the replies guys, I know it's no big earth shattering story, but for me anyway, it's the best news I've had in a long time!
Think I'll grab a 262 !

Sounds like a steroid. I injured my shoulder about a year ago. The only thing that made if feel better was an injection of kenalog right into the joint.
-
Not earth shattering news huh? Maybe to someone who doesnt wake up in pain every day of his life.
If you come across the name of this treatment, SHARE DAMMIT lol. I'd like to ask my doctor about it. And congrats. :)

It is.....had it done for my back after suffering for 4 years. Basically, it's a strong anti-inflammatory. In my case, my cyatic nerve was inflamed from the pressure the disc was putting on it. They injected at the sight, brushed the nerve along the way in and about made me poop myself. That was the worst pain I had ever felt in my life, but the shot was working the next day, and not intending to raise your hopes too much, but my shot lasted a good 6 months and my pain has not gone back to the level it was before the shot.
Your surgeon basically has to remove whatever is rubbing your nerve causing you the pain. Surgery on that level (micro) is 10 times better than what it was 15 years ago, sounds like you have a good prognosis ahead of you and best of luck.

Great news Hawco! I'm happy for you. I hope the micro surgery makes it a permanent fix.
Cheers,

Glad to hear you're pain free. I blew out a disc flying around 10 years ago and I've been living with it ever since. I had surgery when it got too bad (disc had adhered to the nerve root) but that didn't do anything but reduce the pain to a bearable level. I figure if I go back to the doc for it they'll also discover the herniated disc in my middle back and neck and then I wouldn't be able to fly anymore, so I'll wait until I'm done flying.
I do cherish the rare days when I wake up and don't have to hobble to the motrin bottle to start the day...
