Who is going to be the 2006 Soccer World Champion?
If you are not already in front of your TV, I'm betting
Italia 3 - France 1
Something along the lines of "how the heck France ended up here, they suck".:lol
-
I hope your prediction is right Frenchy!!
-
2-1 Italy after extra time.
-
Inasmuch as France has never beaten the Italians in World Cup competition, I would not be surprised at Italia 2, France zip. Down 1 to 0 with only a few minutes left, France wil have to get aggressive, resulting in an easy Italian score late. Of course, I'm likely to be completely wrong...
My regards,
Widewing
-
Not quite Widewing, on ESPN they said : 1986 France won 2 - 0.
-
Is the Italian referee scandal being factored in on the game?
-
I believe this is giving the Italians the edge, Mav, as they have something to prove, so to speak.
-
Italia has definitely had a better game so far. Can they keep up without winding up before the end?
-
GO ITALY
-
Still 1-1
GO FRANCE
-
Don't mess with Zidane ... BAAM!!!:cry
I'm actually impressed, France dominates, Italinas don't have the attack initiative much, but what a defense! ... and what a beautifull goal 19th min!!!
See how that ends.:t
-
Bad time to head butt someone
-
Decided on pen kicks, how lame, sudden death would have been much better
-
AWWWWW!!!!!! penalty kick victory, great shooting! Still thinks France dominated, but they were not able to materialize their attacks.
Fun game to watch, WTG Italia!
WORLD CHAMPION for 4 years

Zidane looked more like a thug. Glad he was red carded.
-
they shouldn't have stopped the clock.
penalty kicks is teh gey, may as well decide it with a footrace.
its like deciding a war with a targetshooting competition.

OK, i think maybe i just called global thermonuclear war girly...maybe it is, only one way to find out
-
The italian player, too, should been given a card for holding Zidane from behind half a minute before Zidane punched the guy down.
-
I was hoping for France, but then what Zidane have done, France
lost my sympaty, they deserved to lose. Now i'm glad Italy won the
World Championship.

I agree on the provocation, but Zidanes reaction was way overboards. He almost "killed" that guy..... Such a longtime and decorated player should know better then to loose his cool in a World Championship Final. Red card was more then deserved.
-
"Almost killed" ? The Italian flopped and played hurt. True it was a stupid thing for the Zidane to do, but the Italian should try out for Broadway with that performance.
I actually was hoping Italy would win, but when I saw them flopping all over the field, I changed my mind.

Yeah, that's why I was siding with the french from the beginning. I noticed a pattern in the italian games - players were crying out loud every time they received a "hit". Never trust an italian to play fair.
-
I think it's "never trust a Sicilian when death is on the line"...
Speaking of flops...that was an acting award performance to draw the PK in the first half by the French.
-
Oh yeah, I agree. That's probably why they didn't get the "second one" when tackled in the Italian box in the second half.
-
That was no flop, and Italy was screwed by the offside call on their 2nd goal.
-
I agree Frenchy.
MT, I think the linesman was fooled by one of the Italian strikers being offside, but the Italian that actually put the ball in goal was NOT offside, therefore the play was definately onside.

Girly Italian like usual... you kick them on the chest and they're hurt on the head.
-
imop, FIFA should change this BS penalty kicks in World Cup, they prove nothing.
-
<--- is still dancing.
-
wtf is a headbutt to the chest anyway?!!?!?!
anyone who thinks im wrong & that it isnt a bizzare move is totaly gonna get a big squealing shoulderblade in the kneecap
-
Straffo, that gif is cut, he didn't hold his head when on the ground. :) Just cry and shut up! :D
Fishu, the holding from behind is a thing that usually happens in football, and, if you watch the movie, there even wasn't any struggle between them, Zidane hit Materazzi for something he was saying... and the only way to answer to words is with your mouth, not with your head.
During the first half I saw a good Italy, and a great match, I liked the way they reacted to France's goal (btw, Frenchy, yes, the penalty was too generous, while Zambrotta's tackle in the second half was more serious), but from the second half to the penalties, they lost their head. But, again, consider this: most of the players are inexperienced in great international competion, just think about Grosso, 5 years ago he was playing in C2 league (in Italy we have A league, B, C1, C2, in decreasing order of importance), yesterday night he scored the decisive penalty in the final of World Championship. Anyway, our defence hold, as always, and took us to the end.
Stringer, I think both of our attacker were in offside when we scored the second goal, I may be wrong, though.
Zidane is not new to that kind of show, he made that other times, it's just so sad, I was hoping for him to make a better good bye to the national team (I root for Juventus, he was one of our best player, he's still in my heart, but I was really let down by that head strike - oh, well, I was even happy, of course :D)
In the end, yesterday night we "avenged" a lot of delusions: we lost the cup in 1994 to Brazil with penalties, now we won it with penalties; in 1998 we were eliminated by France with penalties, now we beat them with penalties; in European Championship, in 2000, we lost the cup to France with a golden goal by Trezeguet, who, yesterday, was the only French to miss the penalty. Now I'm satisfied! :D
So, there's only one more thing to say:
CAMPIONI DEL MONDO!*
(http://msn.foxsports.com/id/5769726_7_2.jpg)
*which, for you not italian-speaking, means: World champions!

sorry but you spelled "la Joconde" incorrectly :D
And btw I don't know how you can pretend it's Italian,if I'm not mistaken François 1er got it from Da Vinci directly.
-
:furious It was painted by an italian, the lady is italian, it was painted in Italy....
IT'S ITALIAN!
-
well ... except Italia didn't existed at the time this painting was made :D
Risorgimento/V.E.R.D.I. ? does it ring a bell ? ;)

Sure, and it's usually worth a yellow card. See, no trusting in italians to play fair - it's all "normal".

Fishu, how come you are doing only "bitter" comments, seems you have a bad taste in your mouth with Italians
any particular reason???
Maybe it was a yellow card, then?? You call that playing unfair or a normal foul??
Any yellow card is playing unfair??
Do you think it deserved that reaction??
Do you know what are we talking about??

Dang, I forgot how to spell PMS in Italian :D
