lol
you asked for it
-
aw cmon, there has to be some more leet than that :P
-
what can be more leet then rescuing 19 people from a burning building then crashing them into a fire as you parachute to safety?
the water is undermodeled it should wash them right off the top of the building
-
doing that in 3d is more leet
-
LMAO , then back on again, then right the f back off lolololololol

Ive been flying my new blade cx chopper....at the hobby store there is a simulator for 199 dollars...it comes with a cd and and a transmitter just like regular r/c planes and choppers use!
The guy said it was as real life as you could get!

I don't think there's anything out there that even comes close to simulating a helicopter accurately. With standard joystick controls and an accurate model you'd crash the thing every single time within 10 seconds of getting airborne.
They are not sensible machines, they basically want to crash all the time and its only a combination of pilot willpower and the earth being so repelled by them that keep them in the air.

This is the best I've found:

The real answer is that Comanche vs. Hokum has been modded like hell by the sim community
The source tree is also available:
http://www.razorworks.com/enemyengaged/index.html
The source code release has had a profound effect on the game, here's a breakdown of the mod stuff:
http://www.simhq.com/_air4/air_150a.html
Frankly, the dynamic campaign is much more gripping than Falcon's. You can fly resupply, you can fly the HIND, you can fly Blackhawks and drop troops in.
The flight model is about on par with Longbow. It's plenty hard on full realism, esp. when you are fighting and trying to coordinate your wingmen to do pop-up attacks over a treeline. The Apache is esp. great at this, as you might imagine.
They really miss having a AH-6 for recon, but the Comanche itself is faster and has a periscope so it's the star of that role in the game.

Damn, meant to edit my post - not followup.
Anyhow, you will need Visual Studio from Microsoft in order to compile the game and know a bit about how to compile window project files.

this is by far the best helicopter sim out there...

the people that make LOMAC,a pretty complex modern jet sim are making a helicopter add on or maybe whole new game that just works with lomac. its called 'black shark'..modelling a russian chopper. pretty detailed supposed to be out in the fall.
try lockon.ru

KAW,
Ain't that CX just a blast? Check out rcgroups.com, in the Multi-Rotor section (if you haven't already), for some really great stuff.
Haven't stopped modding mine since I got it!

A sim often overlooked for helo combat simulation is Operation Flashpoint. The physics are poor compared to most helo sims, but considerably better than arcade flying. The basic controls are there: collective, cyclic, and tail rotor. But the helos are autostabilized, so flying them is fairly easy.
Where OFP really shines is the operations and immersion. Mission design in OFP permits very complex and realistic missions including transport, SAR, and gunship duties. If you are playing online with many people, a good helo pilot can make a big difference in the ground fight but are also nearly as vulnerable to ground fire as in reality. Name another helo sim where you can land, hop out, get into some firefights with your M-16, and jump back in to fly home :) It is literally a blast to engage targets with large numbers of unguided rockets. Unfortunately, unless you have a real person acting as the gunner, targeting with guns is a little difficult.
There are so many addons available that you can fly just about any helo you like. Helos can even be used to move light vehicles by cable. If you get good at scripting missions, just about anything is possible.
Of course, within the next year or so, Armed Assault should be released (the followon to OFP/Resistance... OFP 1.5). I think it is supposed to make some improvements in the flying physics, but I am not holding my breath.

Simulating a Heli i use Flightsimulator 9, with pedals and the right Joystick & throttle i doubt there is anything better out for the PC.
Its a Civilian sim, but you have the freedom to fly where and what you like,
creat your own challenges, nighttime, badweather or just to land on
a Aircraft carrier. I like to take off at Zurich Airport and fly around and try to land
on different location around the airport.
Its not like AH ;) but what comes closer to the real thing on a PC?

Goomba lol Im having a blast with mine iil take some pics and post them soon........I put led lights on mine and last night was my maiden flight!!
put a spotlight in nose and green and red on right and left side!
and 2 strobes in the back.......looks like a ufo flying around!!

Not free but most advanced chopper sim is coming out later this year.

DL first file called 'start up' (99mb) and be amazed.

If the focus is on helo sims to be released soon, this one is looks like it will be exceptionally good if you like UH-1 operations:

Kak,
Did you use a prebuilt light set (if so, whose?) or wire up your own?
I'm removing the tail section and replacing it with an aluminum tailboom, repainted the forward shell in air force gray, and adding USAF markings. Painted over the canopy, and making it resemble a UAV.
Also, added cooling vents, heat sink, and ventilated the 4-in-1 case as well.
My latest trick is regular take-offs and landings from the palm of my hand.
(PS..sorry for the kinda hijack)

"The Battle Sim" looks like a "militarization" of LOMAC, perhaps with some rotary-wing stuff to boost interest.
Flashpoint is cool, but the helo stuff is pretty basic, even with all the fancy stuff added in. Of course, as an infnatry sim, it can't be beat. OFP has a "serious games" version too (VBS). Incidentally, the standards exist for integrating miliatry simulations into the same environment. So it's not technically impossible to have OFP for infantry, Steel Beasts for tanks and LOMAC for aircraft. Of course, someone would have to pay for that.

Isn't Lockon supposed to have a helicopter expansion? Thought I read something like that.
-
goomba heres they web site that I got my lights from.http://www.tjtrc.com/LiPoV2.html
The guys is really cool and does a great job....you can have them custom built...I had him make me a spot light for front and red and green for sides
and 2 white strobes for rear!!
I drilled a hole in the nose and stuck the spot light in there...the red and green lights I put in the side vents that I cut out!And the strobes I just brought out the back and taped them to bottom of tail...been flying at night...too cool...using this config when the chopper is facing you u can see
red green and spot..so u know the diff between front and back...when u see only the 2 strobes u know its going away from ya
I did all the mods that you did ...I left the body the same and took off all the stickers and replaced them with tiger stripes....!!.
-
the best one came out about 6 or 7 years ago.(well it was best for its time) it was called commanche 3. too bad there isn't a new one.

Love it, Kaw...
My first paint scheme idea was to duplicate the Belgian Tigerstripe, so similar to what you did. It was when I decided to lose the hollow tail and go with a CF boom that I got the UAV scheme idea. Just need a good sheet of fairly generic contemporary USAF low-vis insignia decals to finish it off. Looks good, but bad visibility at any distance. Lights will help.
The lights are awesome...definitely my next install. I also notice you did the CNC aluminum head...also a must have. Do you find it flies any differently than with the stock head?
Nice job!
PS...I also recognize that chess board. Got the same one!
(PPS...continued apologies to the rest for the continued hijack)
-
The stripes are black electical tape lolol......when I bought the chopper the guy said to put it on so I did...never flew it with stock head.....the chess board is a shot glass checkers game..lolol .....it was a gift....this is my second body...the first one was way tore up....I stayed with yellow cause it is easy to see...the blue police body is cool!!
Take some pics of yours..Id love to see it...also I.d like to know how u afixed the boom to the back of chopper......get a hold of the guy in the previous post...he will hook u up on the light thing!!anyway you want um!!

I am still trying to master hovering and landing with my Blade CP. Somehow, right as I start getting it trimmed out to be very docile, it always finds a way to hit a tree or the ground and I am back to square one. It never fails: I take off, get it smoothly hovering at a constant altitude... then a small gust will disturbs it... and it takes off for the nearest obstacle. But most of the damage I suffer results from blade and tail rotor strikes while near the ground. It really gets frustrating just trying to take off smoothly.
I don't have a place to fly without wind and I have gotten too lazy to keep driving down to the high school football field to minimize obstacles. I have finally found a way to minimize interference on takeoff: start on top of one of the Air Hogs cardboard boxes as a level, grass & twig free surface. This has a dual benefit of making some trim issues obvious before getting into the air. Sometimes, while doing slow run ups to verify trim, it vibrates in one direction, falls off the edge, and a blade strikes the ground before I can get into the air.
I know I could already be flying pretty well if I had a CX... but I am having a lot of fun tryiing to master the interaction between the collective, cyclic, tail rotor, and the inherent instability and unreliability of conventional tail rotor helos. I could probably save a lot of wear and tear by getting the $200 R/C sim with the USB transmitter, but my wife says she would rather see me spend the money on a CX than blow that much on just a pc sim. I don't know... the sim has many applications and never costs any more money after being bought until the transmitter needs to be replaced.

streak eagle....I found a great web site that takes you step by step on
how to fly the cx....it is a slow procsess but this guy knows what hes talking about....if u can fly the cx you can fly any chopper made ..from what they tell me...Im waiting for the blade pro to come out and will probably buy it.
Im at work now so I cant give ya the web site. I will post it tomorrow!!
My friend next door flew real coppers along with the big r/c kind...he said that it is very very hard to master the chopper with a rear blade!!(If that makes you feel any better) I've spent over 350 dollars on this cx.....new 4in1 15 new blades 2 new landing gears and a new body......BUT...I finally got it down!!!
