My wife and I drove up to Monache Meadow today. Stopped and took some photos east of Kennedy Meadow.

IIRC, this was the result of the Manter Fire six years ago.

Christ..... you're getting good at this.

You make a charred and barren landscape look like heaven.

I think these were Pinion Pines. I looked for new growth and after six years, you would think it would be easy to see, but all I could see was ground cover brush and the like. If there are new pines in there, I didn't see them.

Now that I think about it... I think it was further west (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=h&om=1&ll=35.869856,-118.015866&spn=0.012259,0.020127).

Any chance of seeing those in color Sandy? The B&W makes it a very very bleak scene. Good  photo's though especially if that was the effect you were going for.

Nash, if that's your idea of what heaven looks like I'd hate to see your concept of hell.

Unless those pines were several thousands of years old, It would seem that has been cleared before and life renewed. Beautiful pics.

I shot them in color, but I had B&W in mind the entire time.

Here are the four shots. Uncropped, but reduced in size.

Thanks Sandy,

I hate to see burned areas, but that is nature. I am always happy to see the area coming back and growing green again.
