EDIT: You all missed the point. He's saying that the download time was taking forever, and he accidentally cancelled it. He's not going to DL it off a german server again because he doesn't want to wait forever. He never said anything about reading german text ( :lol )

What is it telling you when you click on the link?  Does it bring up the "Save" box for you to download?

OK. I just gonna bang my head against the monitor! I DL the file, saved it to desktop, then extracted it to DT, cut it, renamed mitsu's sounds to sounds1 then pasted in the sketchwork_sounds file. I renamed it sounds, went into the game and the sounds are not right!!!!! For some dam reason the planes all have the orignal AH sound. i.e. the sund file that comes with the game, but i can go back into aces high folder and open the SW's sound file (named sounds) and listen to all the files. The planes dont sound like that in the game, but if i rename mitsu's back to sounds nd go into the game its fine. For some reason i can rename the SW sounds but they dont play in the game. It gives me the default sounds.

I am not German but I believe it is "Reload, Hurry Up" (Or vise-versa as sometimes words get switched around when translated).  But my English is about as bad as my Italian and I have lived in Italy for 4 years!! :rofl    Schatzi will know better than me....  :aok

I dont know if it makes a diffrence but everytime i tried to extract the file to my desktop it would never work when i pasted it into the AH file, but when i extracted it to Mt Documents and pasted it from there it worked. Also keep in mind a German plot to confuse the westerners to the point of punching there monitor.:furious

Thats a great site. Ok I am really new to this. How do you add music ??? I notice you used frapp website video grabber...is that easier or better to use than the aces high one or do you get the film from ah and then edit it   Like I say brand new to this.
Title: Sketchwork Sound Pak
Post by: RumbleB on August 15, 2006, 08:55:00 AM
You wouldn't be able to play with fraps grabbing :)
You record with ingame recorder, then you make a video through AH film viewer using whatever tool like fraps.

I sort of figured it would be something like that. So I record in my htc film file then what ???? import it to frapps and edit it and add sound or can I do all that in the htc film editor.

Open Fraps as that will be running in the background.  Then open Aces High Film Viewer and when you get a film open you will see the FPS (frames per second) numbers in one of the corners, (where ever you specified with Fraps).  You will then use your Fraps Record key, (to whatever you set it for, mine is F12 as it is not used in the game).  This will start and stop your film.  If you want to do screen shots, you specify a seperate key for that (mine is F9) and that will do your screen shots.
For making a film most of us use Sony Vegas or Windows Movie Maker.  Sony Vegas is pretty pricey :O  Unless you find some resources with it already.  As for Movie Maker, that is free on your WinXP system, if that si what you are running.
Anything I missed?  If you need help let us know, most of these guys are civil... unless you forget to feed them! :D

james, when recording the film in AH, you end up with .ahf files. No other program can open them but your film viewer (you cant "import" those anywhere either - the film viewer uses stored data to "recreate" the game). So you need to follow Sketches directions.

Open Fraps. Make sure you have a hotkey (I use "R" since it doesnt interfere with the viewer) and a directory for FRAPS to store the .avi files in set up.

Open your film viewer (START > PROGRAMS > Aces High II > Aces High II Film Viewer. Then File > Open and choose your film.

Now start the film with "play". If you press your hotkey, FRAPS will record an avi file from your film. (The FPS counter in the corner turns red while recording).

Those avi files Fraps creates can be imported into Windows Movie Maker and edited to your hearts content.

FRAPS is the *capturing* software. Its advantages are that its easy to use and free (at least theres a free version you can use). To be honest i havent tried another one yet. It works good for me.

As for *editing* software: The two films I made are edited with Windows Movie Maker. Its free, already installed and not very complicated to use. Downside of WMM is the (compared to others) poor compression of the rendered film.

All the other editing software i know of (like Sony Vegas etc) are pretty expensive.

If this is the first time you make a movie, id go for freeware Fraps and WMM. No sense in spending much money on something you might not do very often.

When you are in Film Viwer it won't have the 'icons' up unless you check the box to have them on.  It will jsut be a bunch of planes flying around.  :D   Your resolutions will be what you are filming in with the Film Viewer.  The size of the window that you have going in the Film viewer will be the size, so if you have it in Full Screen mode, I believe that is how big your recorded film will be.  It takes some practice, and patience...

Calm down Beny.... breathe..... breathe...... here take this paper bag, nice and slow..... okay.....

Download this file: Sketchwork Sounds Pak (130mb) (http://www.slowcat.de/)

Then, open up your HTC folder (Hi-Tech Creations Folder).  In there you will find a bunch of folders, (i.e. maps, terrains, sights, sounds, etc.)
Re-name the sounds folder to something else, i.e. sounds_1 or sounds_old
Then take the Sketchwork sounds pak and have it so that the main folder for it is labeled sounds  (as by the main one I mean the one that when you click it, it opens to show all the folders in it)
Then just copy & paste from the location you have it to the HTC folder.  You can just leave the old one in there incase you ever want to use it again and just helps to remember where it is.  I have over 400gig in my main tower with another 250gig external.... so things tend to get lost for me.
Now, go into the game and there you go... should work! :D

OR:  If it is a zipped file (is it Schatzi?), just extract it to the HTC folder after you renames the old sound folder.  But then again if you did that, all that typing I did up top would have been for nothing exccept for me getting carpel-tunnel in my fingers! :rofl

Where did you download them from?  The reason I am asking is because they are not hosted anymore, and am wondering if you had a previous copy.
Not sure why it is giving that to you, as it is just a compressed file so you should just be able to un-zip it and place the files in your sounds folder.
Let me know...

Name the plane for me Banshee so we can work on them.  Individual planes you can't turn them up, you just have the option of all the planes or none.  Dogg and I are already working on updates for these.  Thanks! <S>

Mainly the American bombers...when i tried them they sounded like they were idleing.  I just noticed all the different wind sounds you have for different planes...really adds realism #S#

Most the american bombers have come from actual recordings, but will see what we can do.

Rgr that.  But do realize that actual recordings might not come from right up close to the plane...so they will be quieter.  The sound is great just too quiet for me  :)  I love the roar of my B17

The actual recordings are what u actually hear in the cockpit.  Since u can't fly outside your plane except for bombers, I decided to use all internal sounds that u would actually hear inside the cockpit.

BTW, make sure in the sound settings u have the eng sound turned up to 80%

if i turn engine sounds up to 80% then a lot of planes will blow my eardrums out lol

Well, if I up the sound volume on the bombers more then they are now, U will start to get distortion.  I have all engine sounds at -1 db which is about the max before distortion starts.  When I get more recordings for nikis's and lala's, they will be fixed too.  I just noticed that the 109 supercharger sound is to loud.  The eng1.wav file is the actual recording sound within the 109 cockpit.  If u notice, there no supercharger whine.  I think the next release I just gonna use that file.  BTW, that 109 eng sound is from a actual bf109G6.  That includes the startup and the shutdown.  Most of the actual early 109's like the e4, f4, g2 and g6 were windup type start system.  Not sure about the later 109 series though.  What it was is a person or two had a crank that they turn to windup a flywheel.  After the flywheel is spining at a decent RPM, the pilot wound engage it to start the motor.  It actually takes about 3 mins from the start of the cranking to actual engine running for a 109.

I fly 109s a lot but i know nothing about them.  I was thinking that whistling sound was a little too loud but wasn't sure.  #S#

just rename eng1.wav to eng.wav for the original, realistic engine sound.

I just modified the p51, p40, zekes, early spit MK's and the 109's engine sounds.  I will post them when I can.  BTW, Sketch and I did a joint effort in this pack.  He did All the gun's, Explosions and GV's.  I did all the plane sounds.  Still tweaking some but will release a patch or new release soon.

Thx for the compliments though.

Lemme know when it is ready!  I wanna see the changes after you turned down the turbo charger.  Did you change any of the P38 sounds?

P38 that Is in the current soundpack is the closest to original sound as I found so far.  That sound for the p38 is actually from a live recording within the cockpit of the p38.  I will try and hunt for more.

no no no no no.   :)  The current one is the best by far.  I was referring to the start-up sounds that i discussed with you in the MidWar arena one day.  Something about the transition from start-up to full running engine is a little off.  I was suggesting making it fade into the running engine sound.  The way it is now is just like an automatic from Start-up to running.....no gradual change.  I'll log in when i have time to get a better description.  But you may remeber our conversation
