As I was flying in the MA tonight I was thinking of some future requests, and I came up with these two...I dont know if they are even historically accurate, so if not just disregard without flame! lmao...
1- Did any WWII Aircraft (fighters) have a fuel dump capability aside from DT's?
Theres many a times that I take off in a 100% fuel bird, and meet attacking aircraft, and im just way to heavy to try and maneuver with them...If fuel dump was historic for any aircraft this may be helpful? If it wasnt then oops...
2- Did any WWII aircraft use chaff or flare? Obviously there was no threat of heat seeking missiles, but was chaff or flare ever deployed from aircraft as a diversion when in a tail chase? I think it would look pretty freakin awesome to be on someone's six while he is dumping flares or chaff???? I doubt this ever happened, but its worth a shot lol...

Only chaff dropping I know about was the "Window" foil dropped by Brit
night bombers. Don't think it was done by dispensers..but I could be
mistaken.
OTOH they did have aerial smokescreen layers which would probably
work for you :D

I only know of the Chaff droppings of lancs to fake out the germans to think their was an armada of ships like on or just before the Normandy invasion? So maybe the lancs could have chaff and screw with the other countries radar :t .

In WW2 flares would of been used solely for night time illumination. Mosquito used to do this alot in night raids over Germany, both to illuminate a target and also simply to say 'drop your bombs here'.
Also chaff was used alot for purposes of deception and concealment. Again, at night those damned Mozzie's would drop the stuff to drive ground control and night fighter radar bonkers. Chaff was also used for naval deception, like SAS KID said.

LW also cottoned on to using window eventually, I believe. I'm sure I've read accounts of Mossies having to pick their way through clouds of it to get to enemy buffs.
I've also read of Mossie pilots being temporarily unable to see after an aircraft they were chasing loosed off signal flares.

Colored flares were dropped by RAF pathfinders in order to mark targets for the bomber group. The path finder would drop different colored flares and radio the bomber group what color to put their ord on...
Would be cool if night time ever comes back

US heavy bombers used signal flares while landing to indicate if they were damaged or had wounded aboard.

Now that is something I'd love to see in the game.

Yea Smoke screens.
I would like to see smoke screens implemented on PT boats as well, to hide the fleet from enemy CA fire. If and when we get maned DDs and DEs with torpedoes, we can really have the battle of Samar if they also implement smoke generators on them.
USS Johnston (DD 557), USS Hoel (DD 533), USS Samuel B. Roberts (DE 413), USS Gambier Bay (CVE 73), and the brave men who fought on them.

Don't know about the chaff and flares, but many aircraft at this time did have the capability to dumb excess fuel in an emergency. Probably not all of them, but many, especially late war aircraft, did. This would be kind of a cool feature, but people would probably abuse it by taking full loads, dumping constantly when they hit combat and then running home. Also would fake a hit, which could be bad in the game.
Would be cool to see though, at least in SEA.

i think it would be a HUGE frame rate buster, it's bad enough with the clouds
-
I don't have FR issues with clouds. I have problems with them completely filling my view when there aren't SUPPOSED to be clouds around and making it impossible to see.
-
Now chaffs on the lancs would be cool, you could create bogey dar bars :aok
-
Drop chaff at the enemy HQ, bail, and then watch the fun :)
