Title: Korean arena?
Post by: Gtoraii on August 24, 2001, 05:19:00 PM
Guys
I I would love to fly a Sabre against a Mig15 with a real pilot, and good flight models. It would be interesting... Would anyone play this?

If HTC does a special arena for the Koreans then every nationality is going to want their own arena.

Ok maybe that was not clear, I am not Korean.. Not that Koreans are bad.... But I was thinking Korea the forgotten war.. The one that went from June of 1950 to July of 53. The one were North Korea invaded South Korea and kicked the ever-loving crap out of the U.N forces? The one with Mig 15s and F-86 sabre Jets fighting in Mig alley. The war with F4U-4/5s and F7Fs. The war where the p51 was a ground attack bird?

I think it's being done so it's probably best of AH doesn't spend any resources on it.  Keeping to WW2 is probably in their best interest.

The US didn't take it seriously until we got pushed around a little.  Then MacA landed at Inchon and we did the prettythang kickin.  Of course then the Chinese had to ruin it all...

He actually has a point.  It'll be really hard getting a missile lock in a Korean War simulation.  I think his 7% might be a little high though.

As far as I know, no missiles where used in Korea. Well maybe the very first sidewinders.. Not in any great numbers.

I think a Korean War arena would be interesting because you could fly planes that just missed WW2.

Uh, no S2A or A2A Missiles in Korea.
Un coalition had forces from many countries there, and something like 13 countries sent combat troops.  As for aircraft, IIRC it goes something like this:
UK: Fleet Air Arm provided service with Spits, Sea Furies, Fairy Fireflies(?or something like that)
Australia: Sent a squadron of ?F51 pilots (8th RAAF? I'm just doing this from memory), who later moved to Meteor Mk. VIIIs.
South Africa, the 2nd SAAF (Cheetahs) flew F51s alongside the US 18 F/Bs (again, I think), and graduated with them to F86s.
and the ROKAF, of course.
I think some other forces flew transports in and out.
