OOH!!! OOH!!! *applause*

Me likey!!

EDIT: If it's called blind bat, and it's got ASW (sort of) I'm guessing it was radar equipped (bats, sonar, radar, etc... it's all related).

Kev,

Wally Foreman's B24 Nose art Name Directory lists "The Blind Bat" as belonging to the 479th Anti Sub Group, based out of Dunkeswell, England under the control of RAF Coastal Command in  July of 1943.  They flew anti-sub patrols over the Bay of Biscay in July-August 43.

Later crews from that Group were sent to the 482nd Bomb Group when the 479th Anti-Sub Group was disbanded later in 43.

Image is the only thing I could find that looked close to the bird you have.  It has the same early B24D modified nose look and a different variation on the white paint.
