16 weeks of hell. Hard work, stress, long hours, long periods between meals, heat, sweat, yelling....it has all paid off.

I'm 29 thank you. I look skinny in that pic because I've lost about 20 lbs since I started TI school. This school was hell, but it was even worse since I started it in april and carried it through a pretty hot may....a hot month of june and a scorching month of July. The minimum amount of hours we put in one day is about 12, and that's consider a short day (like leaving work at 1PM) Other than that there where alot of 4:15AM to 8:30 PM days where all I had time to eat was a power bar or two. When I first started my tailored 34L pants where uncomfortably tight on me. Now they hang off my waste.
And the blonde is Mrs. Gunslinger and has been for the past 4 or 5 years (can't remember wich ;) )
-
holy crap! I have underwear that's 29.
But seriously, for a 29 year old you are well ahead of the curve as far as I can tell. Well done.
-
Thrawn,
The "hat" means tha gunslinger is now a DI (Drill Instructor). Wanna enlist???
Guns, congrats on the position. You have a real job ahead of you and I don't envy you the hours. Hopefully some young troop will send you a letter later on telling you how you helped keep him alive later on in the watermelon storm. It will all be worth it then.
Now about that young lady next to you. ROWR!!!!!! ;)
-
Wtg. Sounds like one of those things that sucks while you're doing it, but is a fond memory whenever you look back on it :)
-
Damn. Yanno, except for the stripes on the sleeve, that outfit looks EXACTLY like what the security guards at the mall here wear. Especially the hat. Amazing.
:lol
Sorry man I couldnt resist the dig. Big congrats man. :)
-
grats Guns!
-
Actually, he is a TI (Training Instructor), unless the Air Force changed it from when I went through. I know they chaged thier rank/grade some years back. 4 stripes used to be Staff. Now it is Sargeant, which used to be 3 stripes.
I believe DI (Drill Instructor) is Army and Marine Corp.
And congrats Guns!
-
"hey meester; is that your seester?"
cudos on the hat guns!

Heheh, no thanks. Tried to join the CF two years ago, even scored in the 99th (96th?)percentile on the appititude tests, but was "Unfit" due to migraines. Probably for the best though.
Ossifer: Airmen Thrawn, inform the aircraft that it has permission to release it's weapons.
Thrawn: Aircraft you have permission to release your weapons.

Thrawn to shrink: ...you see it's moral implications that get to me...

Congrats on getting the TI bit. Just remember that in 20 years you're going to look back at just how silly your TI days were.

Congrats Guns! Looks like that San Antonio diet really works! Now to counteract the effects head down to the Riverwalk, drink 3 salamanderly Pear Margaritas and eat the El Patron platter.

The voice is allready gone. I'm still developing my command voice and when to use it properly.
Skuzzy,
Not to many people know what you are talking about if you say I'm a TI but we do the same thing as Drill's in other services. The rank has changd back again, an E-5 (four stripes) is a SSgt.
Good one ramzey!

You know, while we're on the hot mom topic... I didn't mention that in the first post because at a quick glance I figured it was his Girlfriend.
So, yeah, I guess since I initially had her figured for a 20 year old chick, that means she is hot.

You posted about the same time as me... that wasn't meant for you.
And you may want to re-read the thread to see who mentioned the hot mom first. I just didn't think someone would actually think that was his mom.
-

Hey Air Farce, wanna race? J/k bro, wtg and . Train them well.
are you allowed to tailor your green shirts in the army to make them form fitting? If so here's an easy way to do it. Go get a cheap $30 sewing maching. Put the shirt on inside out and pin up the sides to where the shirt is comfortable yet more contoured to your body. Take the shirt off and then take some chalk and make a chalk line along the needles ensuring they are strait. Then with the shirt still inside out sew a couple of seams along that line. Then take scisors (perferably the edged ones they use for fabric) and then cut off the excess (AFTER A TRIAL FIT) voila no more excess fabric. The places here charge $15 for that when you can do it yourself, after two of them the sewing machine pays for itself.

WTG!

congrats on the hat sir. now the only question is does your mom have a hot sister

You look pretty hard there guns. I bet you'll make a few cry every class :)
-
We had a "hardass" TI that blew it on the first day of training. He picked the biggest guy and started yelling at him and ended with:
TI: "YOU THINK YOU CAN KICK MY bellybutton BOY?!?!"
Recruit: "Sir, I'd anihilate you, sir." in a very quiet voice
Everyone in the squad knew it was the truth. It took the edge off of the TI pretty damn quick.

Mini
Yea, after having a couple jerkwads mess with me as a smack at the zoo, I always tried to avoid personally challenging people. Instead, I'd either challenge them with the task or try to get them to challenge themselves. I always saved the personal challenges for when I had no other way to get through to someone or they were pulling a hardcore attitude. And even then I'd never fight fair, because it's really bad for discipline to challenge a troublemaker and lose. Of course, in the kinder gentler AF, "challenging" someone usually meant pushups, a run, mental exercises under physical stress, etc.
It usually worked... Looking back at it there are only a few times I wish I'd done something different when training lower class cadets.

we had about 20 the first day :)
Mini,
Some instructors are like that. The bad part about that is if you are picking a fight with a trainee and "dare him to hit you" so to speak the trainee isn't all that in the wrong for taking a swing as he was being physically threatened/intimidated. There's easier ways to break a "billybadass" so to speak. They arent that vulnerable physically but you find out wich buttons to push on them mentally that have nothing to do with being big and then you push the hell out of them. Kind of what eagl said you find out what makes them tick and then throw a wrench in the works that they've never had to deal with before.
There's also the flipside of that is if they are big and intimidating they might make a good student leader as none of the other trainees want to cross them. So if you can't beat them, promote them and let them loose on the rest.

All I want to know is...
What is that strange growth on the pretty girl's left arm? Isn't there something we can do for her?
It's tragic, really...
;)
