For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it's a movie about Czechoslovak fighter pilots in the RAF in WW2.
Here's my unofficial page:
http://sorry.vse.cz/~xuchj02/DarkBlue/ (http://sorry.vse.cz/~xuchj02/DarkBlue/)
Here's official Sony Classics page (nothing there yet):
http://www.sonyclassics.com/darkblueworld/ (http://www.sonyclassics.com/darkblueworld/)
This is another decent web with info on the movie in English:
http://www.upcomingmovies.com/darkblueworld.html (http://www.upcomingmovies.com/darkblueworld.html)
Here's a review I wrote (warning: Pearl Harbor mentioned!):
http://vuso.wwiionline.com/jakub.htm (http://vuso.wwiionline.com/jakub.htm)
You can view the trailer here (warning: nudity!), it's 13 megs!:
http://tms2.wo.cz/FILM/VIDEO/TRAILER.MPG (http://tms2.wo.cz/FILM/VIDEO/TRAILER.MPG)
---------
But why I'm writing this in the first place - the opening dates for U.S. and Great Britain are now known.
Dark Blue World is scheduled to start showing in Los Angeles and New York on the 28th of December, 2001!
Other relase dates scheduled:
UK 11 January 2002
Germany 14 February 2002
Remember to check on it and if you can see it, go, you won't regret it.
Czech 6!
Jakub "czech" Uchytil
312 Squadron RAF (ww2ol)
Tangmere Wing, CHQ

Thx Czech. :)
Do you know if it going on general release in the UK?
I'm guessing it will, given the Sony involvement.
-
Don't know.. but frankly where else should it go for general release other than Czech Republic (of course) and the U.K.? :D
-
That's a good point. :)
-
Thanks for the update, I am lookinf forward to this one
-
snirf ...
and me ?
-
I'm hoping this one makes it into a theatre near me at some point... The trailer looks incredible - been watching it every couple weeks for the last few months...
Thanks for the update Czech!
-
I've been keeping an eye on this one. Czech, I assume it's going to be subtitled for us Czech-challenged folks?
-
Does anyone know why Tara Fitzgerald has to get her tiny tits out in every film she stars in? I mean, don't get me wrong, they are entirely welcome but every film? :D
-
I asked her to do so Dowding..Would you like her to stop?
-
Oh how I hope we see it availble on dvd soon after.

Tits and Spits!!! Three Thumbs Up!!!
-
ROTFL funked.
-
Raubvogel: Yes, subtitled; there would be no point in trying to dub it. But roughly 30% of the dialogues are in English anyway... "Hitler has only got one ball,...." You'll remember :)
Dowding: I presume that it's because the directors ask her to. BTW if I'm not mistaken it's much less-obvious in the movie than in the trailer.
Pollock: Yes, hopefully, but I would still suggest to go see it in a movie theatre. The Cinemascope format (Phantom Menace...) and digital sound (WOW!) really call for it.
funkedup: I believe that quote isn't original, someone already used it in my last post about this movie :) Maybe it was you though.. :p
-
I ain't complaining Pongo - it's not like they get in the way of the action.
Tits and Spits!!! Three Thumbs Up!!!
That would make a *great* billboard quote. I can see it now:
"A great film, heartily recommended" - Empire
"Superb effects and a touching storyline" - CNN.com
"Tits and Spits!!! Three Thumbs Up!!!" - FunkedUp

:D Yeah, but that was hours and hours ago, you can't expect me to remember anything for so long!

Since I've published the link to official Sony Classics page, and since it's been recently updated (to be found here: http://www.sonyclassics.com/darkblueworld/ (http://www.sonyclassics.com/darkblueworld/) ) I owe you people a warning:
DO NOT READ THE "SYNOPSIS" SECTION OF THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE! It is a complete SPOILER, as it will tell you all that will happen in the movie, who will die and when, and how the whole thing ends!!!
