I loaded up AH II today and was trying for max altitude in a 262.
I changed the fuel multiplier to 2.0
I noticed that fuel consumption went way down at around 47 or 48k. It dropped to just under 1000 gph.
After I passed through 68k, the aircraft graphics disappeared, but came back as I once again passed through this altitude on the way to a landing.
Alt achieved: 78.1k
I don't have a place to put the film or I would link it.
What is the max altitude that anyone has achieved (AH II)?
Spec4462
-
125k before I got tired.
After the plane disappears nothing happens, you keep going up forever.
-
Got to 42 K in a P-38 and mine disapreared, why the difference ?
-
Aces High Space Program???
I have gone high in P38,F4U,ME262 don't remember the exact ALTs though but they were above 40k
-
So here's something that needs to be fixed in AH's Flight Modelling.
-
Went to 47k with at 152. Somewhen it disapeared, i changed into external view and back into internal and it was back there.
-
the highest i got was in a 152 run over the bish HQ about 2 years ago. i got to about 70k, then i leveled off and watched the 163s run out of fuel and fall from the sky.
-
i was once up to 9,500' in a 152
-
Plane seem to disapear around 40k, but keep on climbing; up there at 80k is AH heaven and 72 virgins waits you there and lifetime account with the RV8 enabled...

Um, whats the point of that kind of altitude? No aircraft doesnt compress in a dive like, and no one else is up there to fight with you...

that's the point. if you are up that high, you have a HUGE altitude advantage and can linger over the target and attack at your leisure.
-
Over 40k breaks the FM, and you risk disco-ing.
Can't be fixed without introducing other issues.
That was straight from the horses mouth.

You can do the same at 20k. Thats my cruising altitude for long distance, and i dont ever see anyone else up there! (But manned ack seems 20x more accurate and powerful at that altitude. Its shot me down in one hit up there!)
-
feh! 20K is fer communists.

even on eastbound headings?

Wiah your sig perfectly fits like i's saying that:aok

speeking of records whats the Max Speed
Me-mach 2 in a 162 full dive from 60k
-
No you didn't, bigboy.
-
i went mach 1 in a 262 =) and my wings were still on. and i was at about 12k when i did it
-
i can get a vid golfer
-
A film it is. Let's see it.
-
well you were right golfer i thought i was going faster then i was the max i can hit in any plane was mach 1.03

Copy and paste image into Excel and you can expand to whatever size you like.
Its a bit blurry, but it shows him at 40-some odd thousand feet, indicated airspeed 367, actual airspeed 663 (I think). But the calculated mach certainly reads 1 point something (looks like 00 to me). I am not sure how that calculation actually works, but whatever, it's there.
Googled speed of sound. Long story short, speed of sound decreases as altitude increases, i.e. mach 1 (speed of sound) is slower at 40,000 feet than it is at sea level.
BTW, disagree with your assessment of Fox News, but that avatar is still quite clever and funny as hell.:aok
-
Thanks for the tutorial on mach numbers.
The speed of sound at sea level on a standard day is pretty well known to be 761mph. At 40,000' it would be around 660mph which agrees with the E6B. The 761 figure is what most people will tell you if asked (and they were ever given a number which they remembered)
It's a far cry from mach 2. Not that you'd hear it.
-
I think the flight model breaks at 50k, above that indicated and true airspeed mess up. Looked perfektly fine till about 47.5k to me.
Keeping that in mind when you dive from 80k you might get a high mach number at 49k when diving into ah2 reality from above.
-
if you're at 49k & you dont have a decent Mach number, you're probably stalled
-
there used to be a bug in the c47 FM. once you got over 40k or something like that it lost all drag or something it could fly like at mach2. never went up there myself. but i remember goons coming from out of nowhere for base captures.
-
not a 262, but I took a 163 up to 70k or was 71/72k? either way i was WAAAAAAAAAAY UP THERE! 70k hi and i could sse edges of map, in F3 i couldn't see my plane though, "so..." i thought, " i'm pretty high....time to break sound barrier." Got into a 45 to 70 degree dive using up what little fuel i had left, and opend the E6B....wait for it.....waaait fooor iiiit....soooo clooose...mach 1.00...mach 1.01...mach 1.02...etc...mach 1.07 :D weeeeeeeeee!!! of then the ground was comin at me mighty fast:O ...but i managed to pull out to level without dying, of course by that time i was alreeaddy off the map, waaaaaaaaaaaaays away from any base i could land at, so i just droped the skid and slid into a hill.
.ef  booya
Highest Alt. (personal) 70k (possibly 72k can't remeber) :D
Fastest Speed (according to E6B) mach 1.07 :D
Regrets....NO SONIC BOOM...wtf?:cry
-
If any of you said you went higher then mach 1, get out. Game doesn't allow you to go that fast hell, I even nosed over and dove a 163 from 80k
-
this was while ago in older patch must of been able to then, i'll try again and post screenshot if i manage to do it.
-
really viper?
i was higher than mach 1, missed screenie. my FF joystick was sliding off the desk form compression :O
-
LOOK IN THE FILMS AND SCREENSHOTS FORMUM
i have posted a screenie of my top "recorded" speed
mach 1.03 from 62k
not my fastest or highest but i guess only this one counts since i have proof of it
-
APDrone was an observer in my zeke during FSO. I got shot up and bailed, he stayed in the plane. He filmed himself starting to spin, and spin, and spin. He *climbed* to over 400k feet, and hit 2800mph. He has the film posted in the FSO boards. I know it's a bug, but *THAT'S* gotta be a record!
~CheezHed
-
wait..... 2800.... right at about 350k. he broke MACH 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!:O :O :O
IN A ZEKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:O :O :O
-
WTF!!?!?!?!:O :O :O :O :O :O !!!!!!
gotta see that film!!!!
-
its scrollled off the FSO boards, and 1 page is the limit for it, so you'll prolly need to ask APdrone for the link
-
Got to 45K in TA. Long time getting there, just to tired to continue.
-
No matter how you get Shawk will be hiding in the clouds 15k higher waiting like freddy in a dream.
-
Then again, the laws of physics don't count for Shawk :D
-
I've augured five 262's in two days, does that count as an alt record?
Nobody said anything about lowest alt mind you...

No need to share those private dreams of yours...
